Also, in regards to the cable modem upgrade: Quite simply DOCSIS runs over up to 32 channels which is shared with your neighborhood, development, block, etc. Your neighbors probably have a 16-channel modem. Your really unfortunate neighbors might have an 8-channel modem. Upgrading to a 32-channel modem immediately puts you at a speed, latency, and consistency advantage regardless of what package you have. DOCSIS 3.1 operates in a separate band entirely from 3.0 with 3.1 generally operating between 258 MHz to 1218 MHz and 3.0 operating between 5 MHz to 85 MHz. A) Cable providers generally don't give out 3.1 modems unless the plan calls for it. B) The 10Gb CMTS (cable back-end) connection capability of 3.1 means you only need about 10% of the bandwidth to achieve full gigabit. 3.0 is exactly the bandwidth, i.e. for 686Mbps you need all 16 channels at peak speed and minimal interference. So even as your neighbors get home and load up some 4K Netflix your speeds remain strong and consistent.

@joseantonio66373 жыл бұрын
@@aersn4locs For your modem you do need it to be certified for your ISP. This is because ISPs connect your house to the internet through your modem and so need it to be compatible with their services to communicate with it. Routers only convert the cable signal of the modem into Wi-Fi signals and that’s why you could connect any router you want to it. When shopping for one search for the “approved for _______” tag to make sure it will work with your ISP. (Not sure on the exact process of changing the modem once you have it though). Edit: grammar.

Will this work for me? I have Comcast Xfinity internet and use their cable modem/router/wifi and I do believe it is WiFi 6 but I'm running the home automation devices on a Netgear WAC124 access point connected downstream from the Xfinity router. I'm currently having several of my home automation devices disconnecting/connecting from the network randomly so I'm thinking the Netgear AP is overwhelmed and can't keep them all online at the same time so it's dropping the "low priority" devices and keeping the more frequently used devices online.

I made sure the firmware was up to date, that I was using a frequency band not used by my neighbours, tried turning off the 160Mhz band, the WiFi6 compatibility setting, tried turning off the beamforming (as it was suggested on a couple of forums). Did you ran into simiar issues ? With either WiFi6 devices, or Legacy ones ? One additionnal strange point... I wasn't able to connect my PS3 anymore to the 2.4Ghz WiFi...
