Great video. Revisited this old one video as I have finally gotten around to learn Node-Red, only been 4 years. Installed Node-Red in a LXC on my Proxmox system. Lots to learn. I have one functional flow that speaks a message to my piCorePlayer (media player) and sends a notification to my phone. I have a number of others to create and should be fun and frustrating.

You are definitely hit some oldies but goodies! I tried to make stuff relevant as much as I could on older videos. Love some NodeRed still to this day!

i dont like having smartplugs plugged in for only the button. bad socket occupation, and on the places i would want a button i dont have sockets (bring 230v extension cord to bed for having a smart button seems not so smart). so i made my smartbuttons of rf433 tranceivers with arduino nano and printed cases (yes batteries drain (allthough i send msgs for that too)). but for one.. your creativety with the buttons and with the tasmota rules + nodered are outstanding! did enjoy watching the video for the refreshing ideas u have. thnx for sharing/making!

There also the double press, so three commands are possible. You can make it more complex by using the color to base rules on. eg you use the double press to change the color and based on the light you have a single press or long press rule, then you can have eight rules.
@digiblurDIY5 жыл бұрын
Will probably update the description with a rule I got working to long press and cycle the colors. Wanted to show it but ran out of time.

Digiblur got it right again. The $7 outlet is better than 100 hours of work trying to fabricate a switch for $5. It is also wife approved. I even hot glued a childproof cover for the outlet making it water resistant. No more reaching to the wall, past the fancy olive oil bottles to turn on the light above the sink. The garbage disposal provides power near the sink. Said power is already on GFCI circuit so I'm good to go.

Great work I was looking for this particular video. I am just a beginner and I am planning to make the normal lights at my house smart with esp8266 and control it with Google assistant using node red. I was confused on how to put an external switch because my parents don't know much about smart lights and they would like to have an external switch. I don't have money to buy the wifi switch you used.So can we make a simple cheap esp switch and configrate it witb node red.I don't know much about programming,so can you explain how to make a smart switch and configrate it with node red.Can we rely on the switch even when the internet is out.Like can we connect the switch directly to the raspberry Pi and controll the lights without internet. Can we use blutooth switches instead of wifi with a raspberry pi supporting blutooth.I just wanna reduce the cost of the whole project. I really like your works Hopping you will help me ❤️

I bought some of the Gosund smart plugs from Amazon on May 14. What is the indication that the firmware is too new for the Tuya Convert process? I get blue fast blink, but then it turns off and goes solid red, with the dots just continuing. Do I need to confirm something in the log files? Are there similar plugs that still work with Tuya Convert?
@digiblurDIY5 жыл бұрын
Have you used your Tuya convert before to confirm it works? Typically on ones I have seen updated it reboots after a few seconds of the pairing process and never flashes.
@JimDumser5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've used Tuya Convert before. I don't know if it's rebooting, but the LED goes out after a few seconds and then comes back red. And never flashes.

Hi Tavis, great video. Does anyone know how you can (from NodeRed) change the actual switch state via MQTT, similar to how Travis changes the relay power state to light the LED? I have tried everything I know and I don't seem to be able to make it work
@digiblurDIY5 жыл бұрын
I didn't disable the relay, only changed its default power state at boot. You change the relay via the power1 command instead of power2 and 3.
@darrenratcliffe75035 жыл бұрын
@@digiblurDIY Thanks, maybe that is the way forward to use a relay1 (there is no relay it is a capacitive switch) against the GPIO instead of switch1 I can then control its on/off state remotely via MQTT
@darrenratcliffe75035 жыл бұрын
@@digiblurDIY Basically I want to change the tasmota "switch1#state" from 1 to 0 by sending in a MQTT command is this possible?

@roystervi5 жыл бұрын
Question, if you have 2 presses on one switch.. in your example, you have a long press and a short press, When you do a long press while short press is off , will the short press turn on 1st them the long press 2nd? or if you long press only long press will turn on and the short press will not turn on at all.. hope this makes sense.
@digiblurDIY5 жыл бұрын
When you long press only that action is sent and not the short press. Two separate actions.

If you use your Friendly Name as your topic - be sure that it does not contain any whitespace. MQTT doesn't like that.
