I was expecting to see one of those BT battery voltage monitors... Clever solution!

Yeah, I know a few people that tried Bluetooth. But if something goes wrong. You don’t get a warning. This should be handy for anything that’s near wifi. Could set it to warn if a car needs to go on charge for example. I’ll buy a few more I think and put them in every car.

HI, congratulations for the excellent guide, it's exactly what I was looking for, I would like to ask you if in your opinion it is possible to connect the shelly wires not directly to the battery but to the cigarette lighter socket inside the passenger compartment to monitor the battery charge Thank you
@testandtune60964 күн бұрын
That will only work if the lighter has contstant power. Most cars only send power thier when the ignition is on.

I wonder how much energy draws to stay active on wifi. BT sensors are really low energy devices impact close to 0 on the battery.

So a few months on. One of the cars i have this on (15 year old BMW) stayed above 11.8v for 7 weeks while parked before i got the notification from the shelly. It was aperfect. I kind of expected the car to drain faster. I couldnt have come up with a better system. The only negative, the car needs to be stored somewhere close to a wifi signal.

Can you then switch a wifi Powerpoint?
@testandtune60963 ай бұрын
You could create that automation with a selly switch with in the selly app

Are you concerned with the power draw on the battery from the Uni?
@testandtune60965 ай бұрын
Not really. The unit is so small, it won’t draw anywhere near as much as the frm or cas. I did look up current draw a few months ago and a lot of people run them on very small batteries and small solar panels for gate controllers and it’s very minimal.

How did you get it to display the voltage? I have mine on 12v dc to test it... everything seems to work but it is only showing a counter and frequency. I have it hooked to the analog in and ground...
@somaliskinnypirate2 ай бұрын
Never mind. Found that you need to go to the "Add Peripheral" tab when you have the Uni opened in the Shelly app. From there you can add a "voltmeter"

How did you update as mine is not live checking voltage. When I turn on/ off it jumps 2-5 volts I have to trigger this?
@testandtune60963 ай бұрын
Just the update function from the app. the device does require a reasonable wifi signal
