Jill, you melt my heart and make me tear up when you say, be nice. You are such a sweetie that I cannot imagine anyone NOT being nice to you. I always feel that the only reason you do videos is to help those of us who need help so much. Being a retired teacher, I am so impressed by someone like you who is able to give such excellent directions. You know there are a lot of us who are in the same boat as you. We are thankful for helping us to look in the mirror and feel pretty again. I’m also hyper sensitive. Geez I thought it was just me who suffers with that. Thank you, sweet lady.

Thank you Jill, I found this very helpful and love it that you admit to being hypersensitive, I am exactly the same and it's nice to hear that someone feels the way you do. I have been considering a topper for a long time, just need to take the plunge. Thanks for this!

I am so happy you enjoyed this one, and found it helpful! Yes...I have been since I can remember both w/ how things feel on my skin and noises...really, all the senses! I had no idea HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) was a thing until well into my 40's. It all made sense!! Let me know how it goes if you do decide to take the plunge...and remember those clips do NOT need to be so tight that they cause discomfort! ;)

Can you believe I have only just learned about hair toppers. I thank you so much for doing these videos. Not only have I been losing my hair for many years now but I have quite a small head (I am only 5' tall, so I am in proportion), but it does present problems for me with wigs. I am going to get myself a topper and see how I go. I love your videos and I too am very sensitive and I applaud you for taking off your topper as you did. You are sweet and brave and give me so much hope.

Jill, I progressed from toppers to wigs. After time I became very sensitive to the metal clips. I then used tape & different adhesives to keep the toppers on.

Hi Jill...*warm smile....Gosh what can I say, that anyone else hasn't said yet, to let you know how thoroughly I have enjoyed your videos. I have spent the morning watching them...and learning! You are so down to earth and honest about your feelings, which is so endearing. You make this process feel so easy and less intimidating. I feel as though I am speaking with an old friend. Thank you for all your great tips and for sharing your experience! I too am new to toppers and a lover of 12Fs8...*smile. Experimenting has been both fun and frustrating at times. I find that it is a bit harder to find the right piece if one's hairline is not as far back as some of the other videos I have seen. Now that I know your "tip", to move the topper back a bit, I think my dilemma has been solved! I look forward to watching more of your videos. Till next time....Be Bold...Be Brave...Be Blessed!

Jill you absolutely rock in this topper. Just perfect on you, but then you look fantastic with anything you plop on your head. You really have the face and features to pull these off effortlessly. I've been wearing a topper for a year now. Used to wear extensions constantly but lost a lot of hair on the top if my head and had to switch to a topper. Thank god for them. Really a lifesaver and a life changer as well. I wear wigs as well and like that I'm able to change them off. Please continue what you're doing. I really enjoy your channel.

I just jumped into your topper pond after watching your video. I have a larger head, where hats never fit my head, so finding a large size wig is an issue. I returned my first ever wig mostly because the color was not suited to my skin tone plus it was still snug (probably needed the adjustment straps cut which I didn't want to do on that particular wig which I planned on returning). This left me disappointed in large size fit wig. Your video showed me I have choices other than a wig. Since I had a credit on the returned wig, I ordered a mono medium rooted topper! I'm hoping this is going to work well! I love watching your videos, I'm learning so much! Thank you. Jill!

Thank you, Jill! Can’t wait to watch more videos on your topper journey. I find them so much more comfortable then a full wig, but I’ve had a hard time finding what I need. Most toppers are so long and at my age I am way beyond that!

Hi Kay! Thank you... ;) I do see what you mean about many more longer options w/ the hair pieces. BUT, don't forget...they can always be customized. You can trim them to a length that works for you! Check into salons that may be willing to do that for you. I have yet to invest in a human hair topper, but I would think they would be easier to cut and customize vs. a synthetic. (I could be wrong). Thanks for watching!

I just ordered this in the same color as yours. It takes so long these days to curl my hair before I go out so now I'm going to just throw this on. No more rollers and fiddling around with the curling iron and root lifting spray. I'm getting too old. This will cut 2 hours off my ''getting ready to go out" time. I also ordered "Top Wave" in a 12-inch topper for when I DO want a bit of fullness. I'll have to place them one inch back to accommodate my bangs so I'm hoping the "bump at the back of the topper" will sit in the right place. Thanks for making these videos. They have made my selection so much easier.

Well I’m ready for more hair but I digress my question is do you prefer mono cap with or. Without lace front .? And why ? You’ve made this experience less scary. You have no idea how that feels. WELL MAYBE YOU DO ‼️‼️ that’s why your so good at what you do. THANKS. BUNCHES 😘

Hi Andrea! You have to feel secure in it before venture out.. CONFIDENCE is key with these things! If you aren't feeling it, nobody else will either. Just remember...I guarantee nobody will ever think it's not your own hair. People just aren't even thinking that....let alone 'looking' for it. ;) YOU GOT THIS! With me...honestly, my confidence wavers...some days I feel fabulous in my faux hair, and other days it's not working for me for some reason?... That's totally normal. Hi Jill, I wear my topper in to my hairdresser and have my hair layered with my own hair with some color that matches the topper. My guy was really good at matching not only the color but the amount of blonde inserted so it looks so natural. And I don't have to go to get it redone maybe 2 a year. My natural hair color and thinness is about the same as yours. So I related very much. Love your videos.

I’m so happy you cleared up the issue of the fullness at the crown with the full mono top and the sew’n in wefting. I have watched Patri’s videos as well and know that she had mentioned customizing her clients toppers to create the fullness at the crown. I didn’t really understand what she meant until today, which now explains why I have issues with my 1st ever topper which I’ve had for about a month. I’ve ordered top secret and it will be here later today and I am so excited!!!! Hi Jill and greetings from the U.K. I have only recently found your site on KZbin and I wanted to thank you for the great content and truly helpful advice. I have been researching toppers recently after purchasing 3 full wigs from Jon Renau, all Shaded Praline...yes I think I share your addiction to this colour 🙂 I have almost identical hair as yourself in colour, length and stage of loss and so was fascinated to learn from your invaluable experience with your first topper. I am excitedly awaiting my Top Notch delivery later this week and in the meantime I’m going to experiment with your Morphe palette eyeshadow tutorials. Keep up the good work for us mature ladies! Hi dee, I'm also in the UK, may I ask you where you purchased your Jon Renau pieces from? If they were from the states what was the custom duty like? All of the good wig makers and websites are in the states but I'm too scared to buy from them because of the return process it sounds like an expensive nightmare If you need to return for whatever reason! And not knowing how much you're going to pay in customs is a bit off putting too

I think this looks wonderful on you! Glad you are experimenting with toppers, you will be much cooler in the summer! I did the same thing you did, jumped into wigs and then backed into toppers after my first summer. I live in the south wear yesterday it was 80 (yes in February!), so toppers are a life saver to me. I however cannot wear synthetic toppers. I have naturally curly hair so have to straighten my hair, and in the humidity my hair would frizz but the synthetic topper didn't and it looked awful. I've found human hair toppers work much better for me, and I also prefer a silk top, as to me looks more realistic. I think in toppers there is something for everyone, much like wigs. Hope you enjoy your topper, especially this summer!

Hi Silver Tinsel! There are some nice, lightweight wigs out there that hopefully will be a pretty comfortable option for you. Definitely pay attention to the 'ounces' that is always listed in their listings! Also, pay attention to cap construction over the length of the hair. ..Open wefts are definitely cooler than a closed cap/ and even cooler than the 100% hand-tied ones too. I have had very short closed cap wigs that were VERY warm. I hope you find a couple wigs you are comfortable in! Thanks so much for watching!

About two years ago I purchased a very expensive human hair topper from a salon that came highly recommended, as they only deal with faux hair clientele. I was never comfortable with it; only wore it once to a wedding, and other than that, I have only worn it one additional time when I went back to have it trimmed and styled, but again, I took it off as soon as I got home. I have always worn my hair off my face, (ponytails, buns, headbands) and even though my hair loss is in the crown area, I still like it back. When wearing the topper I feel like I have an ol’ rubber bathmat laying on my head. Of course the few people that have seen me in it don’t agree, but I just can’t stand it, and I’m not “visually” comfortable wearing it. Too much hanging hair... too much of a change that would draw attention to it...maybe it’s just me! I also feel it’s too dense, and because of that I recently purchased on my own a less dense topper... it arrived yesterday and I feel that is too sparse. Maybe it IS me! Now yours looks perfect to me... but I think you’ve developed a confidence since wearing wigs and you’ve figured out how to work with them. As I type this, it’s reached the part of your video where you’re getting emotional and what you’re saying is exactly how I feel... I just need to find the right product and be confident like you.

Hi Vicki! I think toppers are like wigs when it comes to how our 'eye' has to get use to seeing ourselves with a full head of hair! I do ALSO think that finding a good brand (in both) will increase your chances of having a successful experience. I knew I loved Jon Renau wigs...(my favorite) so, I went with a topper by Jon Renau for my first 'try'. Neither wigs or toppers are going to be perfect....but, you will eventually hit on one that you feel pretty great in, and you can work with it to really make it feel more like you. Have you tried putting a cute headband in your hair when you have toppers on? Do what you would do if you weren't wearing it! ;) Yes, confidence is key...and really it's the ONLY thing needed to pull off wigs/hair pieces of any sort. Truly...if you aren't convinced ...nobody else will be either.
@lescwiz4195 жыл бұрын
Do you think a Jon Renau synthetic topper is a good starting point? I am hesitant to spend so much money until I see if it works for me. I am guessing you can't return them anywhere if you don't like them? @@JillLynnBeautyTherapy

Wow i could have wrote this myself! You sound _exactly_ like me same problems, same wants, same needs! I too have always worn my hair off my face I hate hair in my face or eyes it's in a ponytail or bun *always* and that's the only reason I haven't took the jump and purchased a topper (or wig) yet I haven't came across any that can truly be worn up securely off the face in a high ponytail ...honestly thinking they don't exist at this point * sigh *

Jill, thank you so much for all the info. I too are thinning on the front and crown. I'm looking into toppers, because I feel that even though wigs are beautiful because of my hot flashes I will get so hot, so I want to try a topper first. I'll enter the world of wigs after my hot flashes are gone. Thanks again, so informative.

Hi Jill. I just found you a couple of hours ago. Oh my gosh, I've been researching wigs so much, I didn't even know about toppers! I am having weight loss surgery and will likely be losing a fair amount of hair. Not to mention, I'm 66 yo and already kinda thin!! This is exciting as I have bio hair. Have been wearing my hair quite short for some years. But I look forward to adding a new dimension to my research. My hair is quite silvery, probably close to "silvery moon", not to much medium gray in it at all. So am going to take a trip up to Portland to find a few wig shops. I'm so glad I found you and your channel!! Look forward to exploring it thoroughly.

Thank you for sharing and I’m looking forward to more topper reviews. I ordered the charleigh. But I’m looking at this one your reviewing as it looks really great on you and natural. So I found this video just a couple of weeks ago in my never-ending search for hair and wig solutions. And based on this video alone I bought the Top Notch in Shaded Praline. I almost don't know what to say. It's been a revelation. I was lucky enough to get it delivered just before we went into the horrible Coronavirus lockdown here in the UK, so I've been able to 'practice' wearing it in the safety of my own home. I followed your tutorials on how to apply and disguise the topper (and bought some fill-in powder). I really have almost exactly the same hair as you and the same problems as you. Wigs lying weirdly over my ears, wigs being hot and uncomfortable, wigs not staying put and slipping backwards. Wigs just not looking real. I've tried extensions but like you say, my hair on top 'looked like crud' lol. I have such fine hair on top, at my hairline and the crown (PCOS of course) but it's quite 'normal' around the nape and sides. I also love wearing sunglasses in the summer and yes, you can't wear them with wigs! It's a nightmare! So here I am ... waiting for the moment I'll be able to go back to work with this topper on. I feel that since no-one will have seen me for ages I won't be suddenly appearing with this amazing hair. I know people often see what they expect to see. I've cut my biohair to match the topper and OMG you really just can't see it. My husband loves it. When I go to put my topper on he calls it 'doing your hair'. He forgets I'm wearing it - and what's even more amazing - I forget I'm wearing it! I don't get headachy and my scalp isn't itchy. I could go on and on and on but honestly for the first time in years I look in the mirror and I look like me. And I look about 10 years younger, lol. I have dyed my hair to a medium brown to match the roots of the topper. Originally I thought I'd have to get some blonde highlights but looking at the topper on me, and looking at you I realise that's not the case and I can give my hair a break from the bleach. So very, very, very happy. Thankyou so much for helping me get on this journey. I can't wait to get another topper!!! xxxx

I just got the exact topper this weekend but it has a horrible chemical smell. I was so disappointed because I have asthma and couldn’t keep it. 😢. Glad it worked for you.

Does the top notch come in caramel ribbon? My hair color is similar to yours and would like to match close to my bio hair with high lights. I can not seem to find it in that color any where.

I am so excited for you! Please keep me updated. Remember it takes a little practice to get it right placement wise... kind of play with that, and trial and error is normal! 😉 Dont be afraid to fluff and use some synthetic friendly hairspray to style and work into your own hair. Have fun!

I’m wondering If my bio hair is longer then the topper but is a close match can I leave my hair a little longer and incorporate it? I love this look but I’m having trouble finding this style but in a 14 inch. I saw a belle tress one but not liking lace fronts. Thank you for sharing your hair journey with us. :)

I truly search for ur videos. Thank you. New to all this. My topper Top Billings lace front does not have center clip. Struggling! I don't have enough hair. I did not realize center clip available. Whether I have enough hair to attach? Few wig stores to actually try on. Ordering on line? Thank you for you being you on video, very personal.

Thanks for your video. I have been wearing wigs for a few years, first because I just didn't want to deal with spending so much time on my hair, only to have to muck up if the weather was not favorable. Now, I have started loosing my hair (along with 70% of the female population), and as much as I don't particularly like it, I am not stressed about it b/c I have hair options (wigs). However, recently I discovered toppers. I really like them and just ordered by fourth one. I think you look great with your topper btw and that color is so you...not that other colors would not look gorgeous on you.

Wow wow wow... love this idea!!! I've been struggling with wig wearing in summer (despite being in Scotland) since starting wearing wigs...this look sooo much easier and more comfortable... only problem I have is my hair loss is from ear to ear like a headband.. roughly 2 or 3 inches in depth from hairline... I don't think the topper you have would suit me, but you mentioned 3/4 toppers.. I'm gonna investigate this... Thank you for this video and all the info 😘😘😘😘😘

jill? you should sell wigs and toppers!!!! I bought this topper in your color shaded praline and I am not a blonde. I got more compliments from friends and family as I asked them about being a blonde. Hands down I am going to love being a blonde. The roots make all the difference and look similar to my bio hair. You are so fun to watch and see all the different experiences your having. It is amazing how you are able to hold my attention I just keep your videos going while I am cooking and doing things around the house in the morning. I told one of my friends about you and she said, ' she could be your sister!" I think I will be purchasing a full wig soon, and I would like to know , after all this time which wig is your very favorite, considering comfort , style , construction and we all know what color you love. You are doing a great job !

That's awesome, Julie! Thanks so much for telling your friend about my channel! My favorite wig is Ignite by Jon Renau in Shaded Praline...however, now they have some new blondes (California Blondes) that would probably look amazing as well. It took me awhile to warm up to Ignite, but once I did it became my go to wig for work and so fun to style. ;)

I really like the contrast.... we do colour treatments in the salon where the girls want dark underneath... I think it looks trendy... Toppers are the business they are great... I have thick hair but I like a topper just because it gives me more volume... And I don't have to fuss with my bio hair in the morning when I'm rushing out the door 😍❤️💞 l love listening to you... I think you give the best wig chats 💋

HI Jill, I've been meaning to reach out to you for years.... I ordered the top smart with the lace front. My head must be too big because it just rides back and doesn't lay right. The top notch is much better for me. Have you ever ordered human hair, for the top notch, in something that resembles 14/26/s10? If so, how do you like it? Also, I've ordered so many pieces in the past few years and not really found anything else I could wear so I'm sort of stuck with my own thinning hair in the meantime. As a result, I have some new hair (only tried on and never worn) that I would donate if you have someone in mind that could really use it. I have Easipart XL's in some of the lighter colors 8" and 12", the top notch in 12FS8 that I just got and of course the Top Smart in 12" that I just received. I live in the PNW and there is no great store to go to. I walked into a wig store for the first time and totally lost it, I was so embarrassed. They didn't have anything for me, I think it was mostly for elderly ladies and there were no toppers or helper hair. I'm just really struggling to find something that doesn't look ridiculous on me. Thanks for your help.

Jill is s so pretty... I so admire women who are comfortable in their own skin... Another example is Patty's pearls. You ladies knock it out of the park ... What an inspiration. As for me ... My hair is basically nothing... And honey , I'd rather be shot ,, than show myself with no wig at all... I wish I could be brave like y'all!!! Love you Jill

Jill: I have this topper, when I got it it was majorly feathered around the edges and I hated it. I did cut blunt (Im a former stylist with skills) and now it is too chunky looking. can you advise how to use the blending shears to get it a bit more textured in the interior? thanks

I have two toppers and I love them. The most annoying thing about shopping for a topper is the “ secret” pricing. So frustrating no one wants to say the cost. I love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing the options!

@JillLynnBeautyTherapy4 ай бұрын
You do have to have hair to wear toppers because they are not full wigs. They are designed to be used as 'extra hair' to cover thinning areas or give general fullness to what you already have. ;)

Really enjoyed that Jill. You look great in your new topper right out of the box but totally get what you say about altering your bio hair a bit. Last year I bought a Beautiful Betsy (UK) topper...known as Enchantop in the US I think. It was human hair so I had it trimmed with a side fringe and highlights to match my bio hair. Blended seamlessly. Look forward to hearing about your topper journey. X

Hi Ally! I have watch many of her videos on KZbin here! The beautiful Betsy looks amazing! @allyirvine75376 жыл бұрын
Yes, synthetics are so easy and you can get the much-loved shaded praline which suits you so well. But, if sometime you want to dip your toes into the world of human hair (mixing my metaphors), these toppers are less expensive than many. And with human hair you don’t have to worry about excessive shine. But it’s early days...
