Wig Color Comparison! Shaded Wheat RL14/22SS vs Shaded Iced Sweet Cream RL16/22SS by Raquel Welch

It would be helpful to newer wig wearers, or those that have worn just one color for a while to mention the fact that there will be INTENTIONAL COLOR VARIATION as well, style to style. Often, the wavy styles will appear to be lighter/ brighter defining that look, not only at the lacefront, but making the wave/ curl pattern pop! ZThen, there are times , like during Covid (may that NEVER happen again) when for example, Shaded Biscuit 19/23SS was MUCH DARKER, WARMER, LESS HIGHLIGHTED. I got it from the horses mouth [parent company, HAIRUWEAR] that the interpretational change was because the company was operating at that time with little to no "outside help" from company heads, as the health issues complicating production were too risky! The resulting color, almost appeared like SHADED WHEAT, when we look at that color indoors in artificial lighting. I was told that all colors are refreshed from time to time, adding more new ones, eliminating ones that aren't very popular. However, RW has one of the most consistent pallettes in the industry. I was delighted with several new additions to the pallette like SHADED SAND & and ICED SWEET CREAM/ SHADED ICED SWEET CREAM. I am moving more & more into the more ashy or even platinum blonde range. I wish Shaded Iced Sweet Cream was available on many more styles. Now, for another tidbit... European hairstylists are moving away from such defined roots even on biohair! They are using microrooting, or smudge rooting so that roots don't overwhelm color. Note, the lacefront on RW wigs is the BEST in the business, have you noticed that on some styles that it is narrower than before and thankfully it is, and going to, extend further back into the eartabs. Now to allow us more versatility in styling, the hairs they splice into the eartabs will also have highlighting and blending too, to allow those with biohair to better camoflague their own hair. Blending of colors anywhere on any wig, well they justdon't diculge every shade in the blend, only the most prominent ones. So my piint is that the color application must be considered in each style when we purchase a wig! If others do not know you wear a wig, this is an important factor when choosing alternate, or sister styles! I mention all these points as recently in branching out to more colors, I have occasionally been disappointed in their application more than how the color looks on me. I changed my makeup to accomodate the color when necessary, but realized that thesr actual points of reference should be considered when changing to differnt STYLES AND COLORS. 😅😊

I wouldn't dream of ordering a color without looking at multiple reviews. preferably in the exact style but at least in the texture (straight, wavy). You can see how different the shaded wheat looks inside vs outside. I think having reviewers like you is the reason online ordering of wigs works at all. It is so tricky.

Denise ...does it bother you if people ask why you change so many colors and styles?

I actually haven't ever been asked that... but if someone were to I would just say that I have suffered from hair loss for nearly my entire adult life, and the pain and shame it caused me I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.... and now that I've found wigs I no longer suffer, and I figure that if I suffered for that long, then it is only fair that I get to have fun with hair now. I have been asked how I can be so confident and public about it, and my response to that is that I have been able to help so many women who were suffering in silence because I have chosen not to hide my wig wearing, and that is worth every uncomfortable moment I've ever had with wigs.
