Wig Struggles - My Raven wig took two tries TT

Had to reupload because the video didn't render correctly! Should be all fixed now!
I had really good intentions for not spending money and wasting materials by using a wig I've had for years and never used but I ended up messing up sooo I guess it's not entirely a waste because it was good practice? I did end up figuring out a wig I liked enough to wear to Katsucon so it ended up working out! I hope that even though I didn't end up using my first wig that the process was still helpful to you guys!

Wigs are truly my mortal enemy when it comes to cosplay so this was cool to see how you know, its not always going to work out first try but it gets there eventually.

maybe someone can help me? How do you prevent, or better still correct a wig that's gone frizzy? It reminds me of barbie hair all over again (i.e.looks great for five minutes and then boom! for no apparent reason it's frizzy and dry feeling and dull and ugly...) I am a complete novice when it comes to wigs or to be perfectly honest hair styling in general as I have extremely thin, sparce fine hair... Thanks for the time and effort that you put into all your video!

Do you mean frizzy like how my wig was? A straightener and patience is mostly the only solution 😅 you have to kind of melt the plastic back into being smooth again

For synthetic fibers....wash with a mild shampoo, condition with fabric softener, let it dry on a towel, put it on your head or a wig form or a friend and use your fingers to detangle as much as you can and a wig brush to help start to get it under control, steam it with a fabric steamer to relax the fibers and start smoothing it, then finish it off with a fine tooth comb and straightener and/or curling/waving/crimping iron. Spray some watered down fabric softener or food safe white vinegar into the fibers to act as a leave-in conditioner before/after you wear it to help refresh it and take down some frizz. Remember, synthetic fibers are still synthetic fibers, regardless of if they are a garment or a wig. If you've got a human hair wig, you treat it like human hair, with just a bit more care to maintain its moisture levels since it doesn't have the moisture boost of growing out of your head. Storing any wigs requires a bit of care to prevent tangles and creases, but once you find a method that works for you, it's easy. On that note, start with a well rated inexpensive wig to play with, if you absolutely beat it to bits, you've only invested a bit of money and time, so you shouldn't feel as guilty about it.
