Wii Sensor Bar Fail and fix

My Wii sensor bar failed and with a little research found a fix that I thought was going to be a fail, but was a total win.
Issue: no cursor present on the screen so you can't select a game to play.
Fix: two small candles spaced and placed where the sensor bar is.

Just as a tip: If you're recording or just looking at a sensor bar through the camera, you should see the UV LEDs ignited on your screen/footage. So either it wasn't plugged in or the cable is busted somehow. D: Inside of WiiMotes there's a little camera that looks for light sources of a specific wavelength, so that's how it works with candles. On a sunny day you can even point it outside your window and depending on how the light bounces it should work! _I know this video is 5 years old, but just in case someone wants to know this, now you do! =)_

Well, i think i understand now, the so called "sensor bar" is not "sensing" anything, it's just throwing infrared at the remote, and the remote tells the wii where it is by evaluating the income of infrared

If you hold a camera up to the sensor bar, you can see purple lights inside it. You don't see the purple lights in this video. Thats why his doesn't work.

Yeah because the sensor bar only creates two small Infrared LED lights for the Wii remote to read and oriented itself and it bases the cursor‘s placement off of that and it basically just gets power from the wii through the really long cord you could essentially just go buy two really cheap LED lights from like Best Buy or something and put them on top of your already existing sensor bar to have it in the same spacing apart and then plug it in wherever you wanted you could essentially wire it up to be used with the USB to be plugged directly into your USB on your TV (most HDTVs have a USB power port on it) so the candles basically just doing the exact same thing that the LED Is doing it is creating a light source for the Wii remote to orient itself and get the readings for the basis of where it’s pointing I did read somewhere that if you get a strong enough LED light that is visible to the human eye then you can use the wii remote farther back than the standard 9 to 10 feet that the sensor bar is rated for and that the sensor bar is able to do

Rechargeable batteries for the wireless sensors are what go bad. Can cut out batteries and cut the end off charging cable. Solder red on red and white on black. I drilled a hole in the back of unit. Works perfect.

Maybe i'm too late but this actually happens becouse the real sensor is a camera in the wii remote that catches light an the sensor bar gives it in the 2 black boxes of the extremes, this also why it works better during the night or in obscure places

Pls listen everyone if your sensor bar isn't working even if there's no physical damage then look underneath the console and you'll find a screw. Unscrew it an you'll find a disc cell inside. Replace that cell and your sensor will work perfectly. I tried it myself

The problem is the top of the tv stand is acting like a mirror and affecting the sensor adversely. All you need to do is, put something under the sensor bar that is not reflective.

CRITICAL I had actually had this in this location for a couple years, before it failed. Remember, the sensor bar is a misnomer. All it does is omit an IR, the remotes receives that light. The sensor bar does not receive anything. What was explained to me is that the candle flashes at about the same rate as the lights in the sensor bar.

Skweekers Studios yes, that is what I had to do. If you order a new sensor bar it may solve the issue. I didn’t try fake tea lights.
