I think the reason they kept the "2 sticks at the top, buttons at the bottom" formula for pro controllers was for consistency. Like, they don't expect you to immediately buy the pro controller and only use that, they expect you to go back and forth with it and the Gamepad. Whenever I use the Wii U pro controller after years of playing the Switch, my right thumb instinctively moves down whenever I need to control the camera. That's kinda when I realized that it would've been the other way around for people who got used to the Gamepad.

It’s sad really. The Wii U was and still is great in my opinion. I didn’t get it until Christmas 2014 when I was 7 and a fair amount of my friends had it so I had no idea that it sold so badly. However Scott on the other hand was my age (16) during the Wii U era so he experienced it first hand.

To this day I use the Wii U pro controller for my Wii U, a Pro controller for my switch, and a PS5 controller for my gaming PC. All 3 of these have different joystick, dpad, and button layouts. Mainly the joysticks. They are in different spots on each controller. Going between these 3 is a big pain.

Everything after Part One of the Wii U was just dream within the coma. Scott never talked about his Childhood, Scott never got his Cars from Best Buy, Scott never pro-looked at Pro-Controllers, Scott never ruined his reputation the second time, Scott was never one year closer to not reviewing the Switch, Scott never found the true meaning of Halloween, Scott never fired half of his team in dream, and Scott never outscammed people in order to buy his calendar.

I didn't have a problem with the Wii U Pro Controller's sticks being on the top because it was my first controller of that shape. When I got a Switch Pro Controller however many years later, that was the layout I had to get used to because I was used to the Wii U's.

I find the history of the WiiU’s swift downfall interesting. I didn’t get into gaming until 2021, my first console being a Wii for 10 bucks from goodwill. I then bought a used WiiU and thought it was awesome, it had HD graphics and I could buy new and old games on the eShop. Hearing about how terrible it was apparently is always a surprise to me lol

Thank you Mr Scott!!! Love your content! Been waiting for Part 2!! I adore the Wii U!!! I play on the Wii U just as often as I boot up my Nintendo Switch. As critical as you are about the Wii U, your content for the Wii U shows how much love you have for this console. The Wii U was my return to gaming. I played the hell out of the NES and SNES as a kid, but fell off from gaming so I missed out on the N64-Wii generations. I was being nostalgic one night so my wife got me a Wii U a week later in 2016. So my reintroduction to Nintendo was magical!!! The massive library of Wii U and Wii exclusive games were beyond remarkable to me!! I played Mario Party 8, 9 and 10, Yoshi's Woolly World, Mario 3D World, Wii Sports, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Pikmin 3, Nintendo Land, Mario Kart Wii and MK8, Wii Party and Wii Party U, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Wii u and New Super Luigi U, and much, much, much more. I was completely unaware of the critical views of the fan base on games like Mario Party 9 and 10, the New Super Mario Bros series, nor the lack of enthusiasm for games like Kirby's Rainbow Curse. These were my first impressions of modern Nintendo and I LOVED these games. And even after enjoying the other games in the Mario Party series and Kirby mainline games I still have a ridiculously great time playing these games with my kids, friends and wife. I understand the criticism and I believe a critical look can only help game developers get better but I absolutely adore and still enjoy my Wii U!!! I'm the guy who loves Mario Party Super Stars but can't help but also have a blast playing Super Mario Party just as much! Or, having just as much fun playing with a pro controller as I do waiving around a joycon or Wiimote! Clearly, the GameCube generation was the standard bearer as far as many Nintendo franchises go but you can put me and my wife in a Mario Party 6 board or a Mario Party 10 car and we'll have just as much fun screwing each other over! Nintendo is special even when they fall short, I still have an amazing time!!

I find different perspectives on the Wii U’s stick placement interesting. Like Scott says he enjoyed it on the gamepad but didn’t on the pro controller, while someone like Dankpods says they prefer the sticks being at the top compared to how it’s done on things like the switch.

​@@notkimpineThe problem isn't that movies are "woke", it's that they are incredibly sterile, as producers seem to care more about not angering ANYONE with the movies (unless they can associate their criticism with some flavour of xenophobia) than to actually make them good and high quality. If anything, the inclusion of "woke" themes seems to work very well for them, as legitimate complaints about the movies are often drowned in a sea of xenophobic ones and woke defenders. It's as if social media reception is more important than the actual movie quality.

God the Rayman Legends delay was such an infuriating move. If the game was already effectively COMPLETE by that point, why not just release the Wii U version now and just recoup the sales in September? If the game WASN'T actually ready, why wait until literally three days before launch to let players know that? It was such an extreme cop-out by Ubisoft, and the fact that we now have 2 Mario games from them is insane.

I don't regret getting the Wii U, not least because I waited and then got it second hand for super cheap, but also because I mostly got it for Xenoblade Chronicles X, which at this point is still exclusive. And that game gave me a many hours of joy. And ZombiU is still the best way to play Zombi. But yeah, my Wii U collection is small. Like 10 games, because anything worth playing got re-released elsewhere. I never had an issue withe the main controller though. Maybe it's because I was gaming back when the Master System could still be bought brand new, but I've never had much trouble adapting to different controllers. Hell, I even liked The Duke.
