Man this was surprisingly emotional for me... I nearly teared up as I saw all my games from the past 7 years being loaded up onto a rocket ship by pikmin... That's so damn cute and it reminds me of the great times I've had with Nintendo... Thank you for the last 7 years with my Wii. I won't be selling it, I'll be putting it away in it's original box and keeping it forever. Thank you Nintendo.

I'm not alone. With Miiverse ending, I decided to do the transfer at last. It was quite sad to see the data Pikmin leaving the Wii to board the shuttle to take them to the Wii U. It was the music that did it for me. If I do take out the Wii again, it'll be to play GameCube games.

Thanks for making it so easy to follow to transfer from Wii to Wii U. Our Wii disc feed broke after warranty was up. (We could pay $75 to fix it.) But, we didn't want to chance losing any data. And my kids decided to chip in extra and get the Wii U Bundle since it came with two games they wanted. Now they can play all the Wii games with their old game data. So glad this was an option!

Uh... like Ben Johnson said, the Wii Shop Channel is still up and running in 2017! This is on both the original Wii, and on the Wii Mode on the Wii U! You can still purchase Wii Points digitally and purchase games from the Wii Shop Channel and download them on a Wii Console or Wii U console in Wii Mode today! In fact, I just purchased a WiiWare title last week! Most Online Interactions for the Wii have been discontinued, however the Wii Shop Channel is not one of them. On top of that, the Nintendo Pay & Play Service (Which is basically Wii's version of DLC), Video-On Demand Applications (Netflix, Hulu, & Amazon Video), and System Update (even though there hasn't been one in about 3 years) are all still active and will still connect!

I really regretted transferring over. Just the fact Nintendo has not done a firmware update which could allow you to use gamecube controllers for the wii virtual console games on the WiiU. I always played N64 games with a gamecube controller on the wii, but now, nintendo also doesn't sell classic controller pros anymore. But, perhaps more n64 games will be released on the nintendo eshop I guess to compensate.

I regretted transferring my Wii data too. I was lucky enough to get a classic controller Back in 2011. However, I loved using a GameCube controller because it just felt nicer in my hands. You can buy a classic controller on Amazon still, but I prefer GameCube controllers. :(

The Wii was my first console, had a white one with GameCube support, but soon it stopped, I was heart broken in 2011, so later that Christmas my grandma gotten me a skylanders edition, years later still works, the old Wii issue was the disk drive, went to a repair place today and it would almost cost 200 dollars, I forgot the Wii transfer thing was a thing, Nintendo you were my childhood

I'm not sure, but you can copy save data from Wii to an SD card, so, probably, if you copy the data to an SD, use transfer data in another one, and then copy the saves from de first SD it'll work. ETA: yes, it works, and you can use the same SD
