@ExandShadow Because of the original Zelda, that is how Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Link to the Past, and the Minish Cap all got their controls for, only that added diagonal directions. But according to critics and collectors, both the original Mario and Zelda are classics and are rare to find

@link0192 Incorrect. In 1983, the video game industry came to a halt. People stopped buying games, due to low quality products at the time (E.T for the atari 2600). Video games were basically dead, then out of nowhere, one game became increasingly popular. This was Super Mario Bros, and people loved playing it so much at Arcades, they wanted to play it at home. So people started buying NES's to play it on, which ended up making the NES one of the best selling game console of all time,

It was designed to be hard and confusing. You have to put yourself in the mind of a kid in the 80's who didn't have the internet. Back then, you could share secrets in the playground about the game. I'm truly envious of the people who got to play it back in the day.

To be fair, I think this entire video was full of win. However, if Mario & Link went on the same adventure to save Peach(or Pauline, depends on rather Cranky Kong's family or Bowser is responsible) & Zelda, on the same terrain, they would probably make the ultimate partnership. I liked the tomboy Zelda/Tetra from Wind Waker most. Something about a princess that actually legitimately helps you, and is both ESSENTIAL in both the entire plot and final boss battle is just appealing. Not that peach wasn't helpful in Super Paper Mario and that the other Zeldas weren't important but still.

In my opinion, Mario really set the standard for games in the future. It was great, but I found Zelda to be more fun. I guess I just like that type of gameplay is all. Open world, nonlinear. When ever I play the Zelda games I always feel the adventure and love the challenging puzzles along the way. With that said I do agree the game was pretty irrational when it came to some of the later puzzles. All in all, Zelda wins to me. Zelda has always been something to look forward to from Nintendo.

I think you were right in the beginning, you just can't fairly compare Super Mario Brothers to The Legend of Zelda. I would rate both of them 10 out of 10 overall. Ya, some categories one is better than the other, but in every category I would rate each of them 10 out of 10.

Let's be honest. Who do you think is cooler? A fat plumber who jumps around, eating random mushrooms all around the place and going up and down pipes and into castles to rescue a princess from a very easy-to-beat Bowser or a Legendary Hero with a sharp-to-the-edge sword and shield with bombs, a boomerang and an arrow? Yeah, Link definitely is much cooler. And I'm gonna download The Legend of Zelda on my Wii on christmas!! :D

@LevyTheAmishMan So? It formed a basis for the series, true, but that doesn't have any impact on how it holds up as a game today. If I gave a little kid the original Zelda to play, they'd probably get frustrated or bored because of how cryptic it is. I don't know anyone who's beaten the game without using a guide of some sort. If your players NEED a guide to win, then your game is not designed well.

This is just me personally, but I *might* prefer The Legend of Zelda since I am a fan of RPG's. I still love Super Mario Bros. though, since I have played it and it was a lot fun but very challenging which turned me away almost immediatly.

I know it's a joke, but how is zelda useless in comparison to peach? Throughout the Legend of Zelda franchise, Zelda has helped Link a number of times in his adventures, whether it be in the final battle, teaching him songs(as sheik, but they are the same person), and even being on the entire journey in spirit tracks. Peach only sends mario one ups, and that's about it.

I think Nintendo needs to stop keeping zelda and peach inside Medieval age dresses and dress them up in something more modern. Peach and Daisy both look great in Mario Tennis, so why not keep that outfit or something like it? Zelda has never worn anything besides a dress and the Sheikah clothing. >.>
