I get the joke, but seriously, the Coconut Grove fire was no laughing matter. (I know that's the point) That's what's annoying about comedians hiding behind the 'inappropriate joke' formula. They say; "we are making fun of tasteless humour", while simultaneously making tasteless jokes by proxy.

I've watched Conan since the mid-90's and I noticed that Conan, more so than other talk show hosts IMHO, tends to show genuine annoyance or irritation when people ad-lib or go off script. I think Brian Stack is one of the few members of his staff who can upstage Conan with ad-libs and get away with it.
