One thing that makes these skits so funny is that underneath Bing Crosby's easygoing, avuncular public persona, he lived a rough life: he had drinking problems, beat his kids, swapped girlfriends with Bob Hope, and had a gambling addiction that got him death threats from the mob for money he owed. Surprisingly, the guy even liked smoking marijuana and advocated for its legalization late in his life. So, these songs hint at the real, unvarnished Bing Crosby the public didn't know.
@amjoshuaf Жыл бұрын
Actually, even though it’s inspired by Crosby, the satire seems directed at WASPs. Crosby was Irish. WASPs were the ones putting “no Irish, no dogs” signs in there business windows.

@@mydjmode Whether or not you like Colbert doesn't matter. Stack does like him. He looked up to him a lot from when they were both in Second City (Colbert was on the main team). Conan likes Colbert a lot too, it is why they did those cross-over sketches during the writers strike 10 years ago. It must be shocking to learn that different people have different tastes, but better you learn it now as opposed to when you've grown up a bit more.

@Grizzled Sentinel People have different opinions about Colbert and that seems to upset you. No one cares for the late night hosts today. They're all hack propagandist, not funny or entertaining.

Conan fell for it each time...guess he must have been blibidy drunk

Can't blame him, he woke up face down in the street, he just wiped the puke off with his sleeve. And he probably has cloven hooves instead of feet.

Holy shit!!! I’ve never seen these before. Fucking hilarious 😂🤣 Ploppity drown🤣😂 His Bing Crosby-esque character is absolutely brilliant!! I have to find more of him. I thought I’d seen a ton of Conan. How have I missed this dude for so long?! So blessed to find him now. I feel like I just found a hundred dollar bill on the ground.
