Played a lot this game on my childhood. I dont understand very well the mechanics but the music is so nice.

JAMES CLAVELL'S TAI-PAN looks graphically good on the MSX. And the music 🎵🎶 sounds retrospectively as brilliant as on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128K. I had this game on the tape for my Commodore 64 back in the early 2010's. I played a little bit, because i didn't know, how to buy a ship and The accessories and leave town 😹🕹️. A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.

It sounds exactly as the ZX because it's the same piece of software (the MSX version was built upon the ZX version, both computers use the same sound chip and CPU). This version has some additional colours that weren't present on the original MSX version. C64 version is in my opinion the best one.

When firing the cannon at 11:58 the player's sprite appears in the water. Is this a bug or is he trying to board the other ship as a human cannonball?

It's a bug already present on the original game. I've fixed it (among other bugs) and will release a new version soon.
