I kind of want to see him get revived because he’s a really cool character, but at the same time I don’t want him to be put in the position where he’s going to be under the same pain and stress he was during his life, so much that he subconsciously repressed the memories to avoid trauma. Ghostbur seems to be most at peace of the different stages of Wilbur’s character, but also a lot more tragic and empty. Melancholy. He’s at peace but not happy. And this ‘peace’ doesn’t really come from a place of fulfillment, but rather of blissful ignorance and a lack of having to be involved in wars. He’s a lot more detached, dull, empty. He says he’s at peace and happy with being a ghost, but that’s really not true. One of my favorite things that’s done with this character is how he refers to his past self in third person. It’s not “I” or “me.” It’s “Wilbur” and “him.” Of course, these characters are basically different people now, but Ghost Wilbur referring to himself in third person really says a lot about his character. He WANTS the past him to be a different person. He doesn’t want to have to associate with his past, doesn’t want to have to face the realization that they’re the same person. He’s not truly ‘happy,’ being a ghost per say, but he’s content. Content because being a ghost, or a ghost in the state of which he has no memories, means that he doesn’t have to live with the knowledge of his past life. He’s using his current state as an amnesiac ghost as an escape, and he’s only barely content because he doesn’t have to face who he was and what he did, because he knows deep down that facing his past means he would have to face all of the trauma and pain he tried to block out. He’s purposefully trying to block out these memories, giving himself induced amnesia, as a coping mechanism, so he doesn’t have to face who he was, or face any of that trauma. Ghost Wilbur ultimately, is scared. He doesn’t show it, and is pretty empty inside, but deep down, he’s scared of confronting that past version of himself and the atrocities he committed, and the trauma and suffering associated with them. If he stays as this ghost form, he doesn’t have to be who he was. After he blew everything up, he literally begged to be killed because in his insanity, he thought the only way to really escape anything was death. To escape the trauma, the suffering, or the guilt. He would rather be dull, empty, and tragic than have to face who he was, or used to be. I absolutely cannot wait to see what they do with his character in the future.

This kinda reminds me of a Vanya Hargreaves from TUA Season 2 situation. It’s probably a self-induced amnesia, some kind of subconscious suppression, as a form of coping with trauma. This does actually make sense and fits in with the story. Wilbur couldn't handle all the trauma he went rhough(hence the insanity arc), so his brain cut it out after he died to make sure that doesn't happen again. It also provides a reason for why he won't be online much in the coming weeks(since he wants to take a break to work on other projects-he'll be back), but storyline wise, it could be because he needs some time to cope.

There's two kind of deaths on Dream SMP, there's PvP Deaths and Plot deaths. PvP deaths are just regular Minecraft deaths, in the plot it's like kind of a ruse, they're just hurt. Plot deaths mean that the character has actually died and they're now a ghost. The only plot deaths so far were Schlatt and Wilbur, as far as i'm aware.

I want Dream to give ghostbur slow falling so he almost hovers a bit as a ghost. So it gives the look of a ghost instead of him just moving around normally. It’d be so cool to go in his shed and see a double chest full of slow falling potions that Dream will always fill to keep up the act.

I think Ghostbur subconsciously erased all of his tragic memories and only kept the good ones, so he acts like a whole new different person. Because he hasn’t gone through the terrible stuff. But he sounds so sad because it’s regret of what he has done keeping him alive but he just don’t know it yet. Wilbur is definitely my favourite SMP character, he has been through so much and had such a great arc!

I think Dream Smp season 2 (as people are calling it) will be more inclined to the supernatural, with people saying that Schlatt could be revived, with Wilbur canonically dead but living as a spirit, and the sub plot of Dreamons in the past season

I like to think schlatt and Wilburs lava and drowning Minecraft videos are canon in lore. That would explain why he didn't feel relieved or happy like we think he would, because he still sees him as an old friend.

I love Ghostbur... he’s so wholesome... But I do find it sad. His memory is completely different from what actually happened. His subconscious erased the memories to help him cope because he is completely heartbroken. And with the book of what he remembers... Phil protecting him but Philza killing him (which could mean he sees Philza and Phil as 2 separate people which opens up so many angst ideas and I already wrote one-), the smell of bread, the van, bullying Tommy because he’s a child, the election... But he doesn’t remember blowing up L’Manburg (matter of fact he denies ever doing it and said Quackity was making things up when he brought it up), he doesn’t remember Schlatt, he doesn’t remember losing the election, he doesn’t remember anything like that... Which is very sad, but an extremely creative way to do Wilbur’s plot death. And it also keeps Wilbur out of the smp storyline while he works in his own personal content. But he’s just providing all these cannon backstories and all of these little bits of lore no one talks about. Like how he says he’s a different person from Wilbur Soot, even telling everyone on the smp to call him Ghostbur because he is different. Like how he said that he and Phil used to make Chinese lanterns. Like how he has a library that he really cares about and he makes potions as well... No one talks about Ghostbur enough man. I feel like this part of Wilbur’s character development is just largely looked over, ignored, and just not really getting enough recognition for how creative this is as well as what new storylines can happen from this.

I really like ghostbur because as the action ramped up he had to play this bit very hard to sell it for the audience. He did a wonderful job, but he seems more relaxed in this role. It’s very chill. Good for him. :-)

ok but what if dream or something tries some wack necromancy shit and brings schlatt back but he has a similar case to wilbur, but like... part of his memory is gone. he might be a better or nicer person, because at the point he joined, his character was an old man. i saw another comment of how wikbur was probably reset to his happiest state as he isnt in his lmanburg uniform, which might indicate he wasnt too happy as president. if the ghost state is your happiest state, schlatt could revert to a young man with a far different personality and ideals. it could be a man who is more caring and less selfish. it could be schlatt, but minus his crankiness and his controlling nature. or it could be a schlatt with far less morals and less charisma. the schlatt that could come back as a ghost could canonically be many things. or it could just be schlatt, maybe a more genuine schlatt, or an exaggerated version. who knows, but i think that a calmer and happier version of everyone if they come back as a ghost, without their traumas and worries.

I think that Ghostbur wants to try not to remember things because, the more he remembers about his past, the more he becomes normal Wilbur again. And He doesn't want to be himself again. *This literally made my day-* I love trying to figure out the lore of things, and my day hasn't been that great so far- ;-;
