IMHO this is the greatest guitar performance ever recorded by the greatest guitar player that ever lived. And I've seen Henrix live as well as Jeff Beck and many, many other greats. I've been a musician for over 55 years and this is the most astounding performance I've ever seen.

Just to be uber-nerdy. That guitar he is playing is pretty damn famous too. It is a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard 'burst. It is called "Greeny" that started out belonging to Peter Green, the co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, before Gary got it. The guitar now belongs to Kirk Hammett of Metallica who still uses it on stage occasionally. He reputedly paid $2 million for it.

I am a 74-year-old Black Man who grew up with Gary Moore, since his early days with Skid Row, Thin Lizzy, a must is Black Rose, where he does a Metal version of Danny Boy. Please check out the album Wild Frontier, he does Irish-Celtic Metal. Also check Out in the Fields Fields, with another Irish legend Phil Lynott, who was a Black Irishman. Must listen to more types of music. Blues, Classical, Flamenco, Rock/Hard Rock/Heavy Metal, Jazz, and Reggae. Check out the jazz performer the late Clark Terry, flugelhorn.

Don't feel bad about not knowing who Gary Moore was. he was never given the acclaim he deserved. He was much more than "oh, didn't he play in Thin Lizzy" Anyone who has listened to him play This song or The loner, or Empty Rooms, Parisiene Walkways, Still got the Blues, knows.... No one, now or ever, played the electric guitar with the emotional sense of melody that he did. He is far and away, my favorite guitarist and in my mind, the greatest ever. From the heart, to the hands, to the strings and out the amp he is untouchable. we'll not see his like again....

Neither Clapton, nor Hendrix, nor Page could do what Gary Moore does here. That is simply a fact. That doesn't mean you have to like Moore as much you might like those other guitarists. But be honest, this is technically on another level. Could SRV do it? I don't know, but I have no reason to just assume he could and I have listened to a great deal of SRV and I am a knowledgeable guitarist with decades of experience. I know what's involved in playing like this. There are guitar fans who have emotional attachments to certain guitar players and it blinds them to certain realities. I am not trying to tell anyone who their favorite guitarists should be, but to say that Moore might be up on the same level as Clapton, Hendrix, Page and SRV is ludicrous. It's laughable, because the real question is: Are they on his level?

Absolutely nailed it! I too, have played for over 20 years. I don't think Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Beck, SRV or any of the other top rated blues rock guitarists we're on par with Gary. He was simply more well rounded and didn't comform to what others adhered to. He didn't get all the recognition he deserved because he didn't sell out, and pretty much did it his own way. We are all blessed because of it too. He left us with some of the best stuff that will ever be recorded.

Gary Moore was an amazing talent, never got the credit he deserved as a guitar god. Roy Buchanan wrote this song and played it amazing. Gary gave a nod to him when he put it on his set list. They are vastly different players very unique in there styles; however Gary stays fairly traditional to Roy's original probably because it kicks ass. Roy was a monster player, died in lock-up down south after partying...they say it was suicide but I think someone killed him maybe because he was liberal with his choice of musicians in his band if ya know what I mean. They're both gone...bummer...I'm old. lol
