Jeff Tweedy & the late Jay Bennett of alternative rock band Wilco spoke with us in early 2000 about their creative process, the story behind their start, and how they keep their sanity on tour! This offers an insight to the two men's contentious relationship. What's your favorite Wilco song?
Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. Wilco's music is inspired by a wide range of styles like Bill Fay, The Beatles and Television. Wilco won two Grammy Awards for their fifth studio album, 2004's A Ghost Is Born. Wilco's most recent studio album, Star Wars, was released on July 16, 2015.

This is fantastic, but that's not bassist John Stirratt. It's multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett, who sadly passed away in 2009.

Jay is totally oblivious that he is constantly stepping on Jeff’s toes. Jeff is the leader. What did Jay think was going to happen?

Well someone who has the disease of addiction/alcoholism (which is pretty much the same thing) is very different once they have been in the recovery process for awhile. Once they start taking the steps to learn and dig deep inside they start to figure out and learn the thinking patterns that has caused them problems, and once they start to practice changing the old thought process that they've had they slowly start to change which is what has happened to Jeff and many other addicts/alcoholics in recovery. One important thing to remember is that NO ONE is ever ever out of the woods. That part of them stays with them for the rest of their days, and if they stop taking the proper steps of the recovery process it is a matter of time until a relapse happens and its back to square one. It is a very scary disease which takes constant work to help remain sober. Also Jeff was never what is classified as a "Junkie" a junky is someone who is addicted to heroin. Even though heroin is an opiate just like vicodin, it doesnt really matter but thats a very derogatory term for someone who is an addict/alcoholic

Not really... his answers here are still thoughtful and similar to stuff he's said in more recent interviews. it's kinda wild how when someone admits publicly to struggling with addiction fans go back and tear apart old interviews and songs to look for all traces of drug influence. though we mythologize drugs as completely changing somebody's personality, that's not always the case. sometimes it's just a health problem in the same way that bronchitis is a health problem
@santiagodemarte
@santiagodemarte 2 жыл бұрын
@@eht12369 Yeah, it makes sense to me. I still see a very different person though. I'm not a diehard teenage fan, I'm a 37 year old person with it's own background and what I see is a young dude being interviewed, but the point here is that I just expressed myself terribly wrong with this word because I didn't know the meaning of it by the time I wrote that so I'm sorry if I've offended someone (geez I probably did, I'm ashamed now).

@@drago6769 Oh, I see. My mistake. I'm brazilian, so I didn't know how heavy this world is by the time I wrote it (I was too impulsive on having an opinion too). I'm sorry because I probably offended someone here. Lesson learned.

@@johngoody8204 I wrote that 7 years ago bro. It was pretty stupid. We don't need a word that compares someone with a health problem to trash. It doesn't make much sense, and this is why I kept it. Hopefully it'll make others think about stuff before talk. Actually I don't feel ashamed anymore, cause I'm not perfect neither trying to, I just wanna be a better person and fuck up sometimes, as everyone, and it's ok. You're wrong.
