Watched this on my phone.. just sitting at my dining table, no head phones, shitty phone speaker.. and by the end I’m drumming on the tabletop, stompin one foot and smiling. The energy and that tight yet gloriously ragged sound. I will always love this era of Wilco. Jay Bennett - a musical god RIP

I played with Jay in Steve Pride and his Blood Kin. Such a remarkable musician .. so gifted in every direction. We got to open for Wilco at Mississippi Nights around this era and it was great to meet everyone. So many stories! Miss you Jay.

Wow if any band has evolved over the years its this one. I have loved every incarnation. And Jay's impact to their musical growth is indisputable. But if one element had changed the sound of this band in the most substantial way its was bringing in Glenn Kotcke on drums. He is a true master and powerhouse all in one.

I grew up w Jeff in Belleville, IL.. meeting him at B&G music, ltd .. first seeing him w UNCLE TUPELO at 100s of St Louis,mo and southern Illinois shows, bars, jam sessions. When Jeff left U.T. , 2 creatures were born . WILCO and SON VOLT. U can hear the evolution of a boy from the cornfields to Chicago just by listening to WILCOs first cpl albums, lol. Jay Bennett was one of the absolutely coolest, most talented guys I've ever known and, honestly, loved. He was so personable, humorous, awkward that he was one of those '3 seconds' ppl.. in 3 seconds u either loved or couldn't stand him, lol. ❤️ Ty for mentioning him.

This might be the most upbeat Wilco set I’ve ever seen, that version of Can’t Stand It really kicks ass. Also, John Stirratt has not aged one bit.

No offense to Cline and the other members who came after, but Jay Bennett was Peak Wilco for me. All amazing musicians, but Jay's feel and tone and instincts on all the instruments were just perfect for my ears. He could play a tele just the way a tele is supposd to sound. An ES-355 just the way a ES-355 was supposed to sound. What a savant.

Not exactly a seminal performance but fun to see this early incarnation. Only Jeff and John Stirratt left. Tweedy's smart-ass comment about loving it when the audience sits down is worth the price of admission.

I saw them at the Barrymore in Madison on that tour. I ran into Jay and Bob Egan at a bar later. Jay was arrogant. The main thing that I remember about that show is that I had horribly smelly gas and I swear the band could smell it. I KNOW people around me could. Long time ago.

One of the roadies filled in on acoustic guitar to add some texture because both Jay and Leroy play keyboards on the song (and so couldn't play guitar then).

Audience seemed to get into it by "Monday" 17:09 This seems typical for a band paying an early set. Crowd took a minute to warm up but there they are. Another interesting thing in a lot of Rockpalast footage audiences seem to have this reserved reaction, no matter the act. Not sure what it is.

Playing the international festival circuit can be like that if you're not a headline act. Just because the promoters are big enough fans to put you on the bill doesn't mean the crowd are.
