I love hummingbirds and... actually a bit jealous of them. Looks like so much fun to fly like they do. I very much enjoy seeing out Arizona hummingbirds, the year round and the species that stop by on migration. I always keep a few feeders around the yard, and keep them clean and healthy. Gotta replace the food often in summer, keep away from ants (water cup hooks work well but, gotta check the water every few days in summer) and...never ever use anything with food dye or color. Just clean filtered water and sugar will keep these amazing little creatures going. I may be jealous but, In don't mind helping them lol.

15:33 Oh...Javalina can be good eating though...lol. But saying they are unfriendly...is an understatement! Don't challenge a pack...unless you are well armed! Did a lot of Javalina hunting in southern Az in my younger years. Yet, I've also seen a pack running down the street, just off Scottsdale Rd, in north Scottsdale more than once. Something kinda surreal seeing a pack of them running past a Harley dealership lol.

i seen a javelina robins butte over 10 years ago, cool to know it was a rare occasion

Rare? I don’t know about that, these days, at least… in some places, especially in the southern half of the state, entire herds of javelina can tear through yards and properties by night. We know because it gets filmed regularly on people’s door cams and security cameras! Their numbers are rising I’m sure. And some people feed them vegetables, which of course, is conditioning them to being fed, and not recommended…

This was a pretty decent video. Makes me wish it was longer, though. Can one be paid as a bird watcher? I'd do that.

The English captions call the javelina a “coward” peccary, lol. But the auto-generated captions are correct and say “collared”.

i used to volunteer at a bird shelter in Tucson and have rehabilitated and handled many roadrunners. Fun fact: you can actually pull out their long tail feathers very easily so one must be very careful when handling them to not grab their tail feathers.

We used to have a 'wearable arts' contest in Aotearoa New Zealand. Wouldn't it be great for a US design competition, with charity & competition, to inspire & train industry lead opportunities, long lasting careers, by learning & encouraging growth in 'haute couture' skills & techniques, in several states, or a state, in the US of A? New York, or L.A.? Inspiration comes in many shapes, colours & forms, especially when inspired from, or by nature. Ideally, creating a wealth flow to protect environments & UNESCO park opportunities, in many other states ;-) If only we knew some responsible contacts, to create charities, or foundations, for tax free donations & training opportunities, making profits to pay for staff, materials & the like .... Circular economies exist, with money flowing back, to protect valuable environs & the species they nurture & future generations of humans & animals, plus plant life as well ;-)

I'm hoping that your bad experience wasn't in Tucson. The people of Tucson are some of the most relaxed, chill and super nice people around. I know firsthand. Not only did I grow up here, but it's also home.

Why is this called humming birds?
@pearlofthedarkage2 жыл бұрын
They are named hummingbirds because the sound of their wings beating so rapidly makes a humming sound.

Seems silly to refer to arizona as part of the new world, by the look of it. Just saying.
@willswalkingwest72672 ай бұрын
Sorry. There is absolutely no valid reason to trap, terrify and band birds. Until we as humans, stop tearing down habitats to build on, everything else we rationalize as "research" is pointless. It's just a way for people to be in some kind of control. Leave the birds alone.
