My dad and I started playing this game when I was young, I had no memory card for my playstation so we'd start over every time. I hope every day that he'll be back just to finish it, I turn 18 in a few weeks and still this music brings tears to my eyes. I tell myself its just a game, but really this game made me who I am today. So thank-you WildArms for giving me a memory of my dad that isn't filled with sadness or disappointment, just a father and his son playing a videogame together.

My best friend from when I was 13-18 years old, died yesterday. We would play this game for hours on end. His room would have blankets on the walls so we couldnt even tell it was daytime out. One of us would play this game while the other would play Ocarina of Time on the 64. Same room, 2 different TV's. Entire weekend sleepovers. Good ol 2001-2002. Ill miss you Andreas. Over 20 years ago, my uncle had a PS1, which was a rare thing here in Romania. Anyway, I used to play on it on rare ocasions and I liked this game, I was about 4-5, maybe 6 years old. After all this time I struggled to remember the name and now I've found it and I've realised that this is where this song was stuck in my head all this time. After 20+ years I still had this song in my head without even knowing where it was from. Awesome song.

I never have a great attachment to ff7 compared to ff4, ff5 (the great gilgamesh), ff6 (thanks to ultros (the GOAT), figaro brothers and celes), or ff9 (got to say zidane is quite a hero) I find ff7 to be just like "that" sort of game... I feel more emotional connection to wild arms 2 instead... So why can't I consider ff7 to be overrated?

I was literally forcing my friends to listen the intro. But nobody loved anime/manga. Though one of my best friends with quite bad musical ear said about the intro and then about the next themes: "it's beautiful music there". The western motives with the nice whistle sounds really good, right? :) I mean I forced to listen the intro but they found that the rest is also a masterpiece. Yes indeed :)

This game is and forever will be one of my favorites since it has so much personal meaning to me. It came out when I was about five or six and I remember wanting so desperately to play it for many years, but my older brother never let me touch his systems. By time I was old enough for him to probably let me play his systems, I wasn't all that interested in the Playstation anymore and stuck basically only to Pokemon. My memory of the plot faded, but the desire to play remained in the very back of my mind. Last year, I finally got the chance to play this game for the first time. It's nothing groundbreaking gameplay-wise and the in-battle graphics haven't aged well, but I got caught up in the waves of nostalgia. The second I heard the opening notes, I felt like I was home. This game just means so much to me because of Cecilia. She had a huge influence on my writing as she was really my first exposure to the princess that would do anything to help her land and make sure it survived. Even so young, I identified with her almost instantly because she was a gentle, quiet idealist like me. She's the reason I had the patience to hang onto this game for around fifteen years until I finally got the chance to play it and I'm glad I did. The characters are so relatable and deep and have become some of my favorites to write about. I truly love this game, the world, and the characters with my entire heart.

Sucks that you didn't get to play this game together with your brother. I had the luck that my sister and mother were both into it and I was like 8 or 9 years old at that time, though I didn't understand much of the game itself. However I'm currently replaying it and found myself again mostly playing as Jack, just as back in the days. Just gotta love hanpan...

Im 33 years old now still a huge game fanatic when hearing this again instant teary eyes back when games were more simplistic but had so much more dept because your imagination had to do so much more with what we had. Nowadays we get bombarded with all these fancy graphics which in 80% of the games feel completely hollow and empty this game had such much heart.
@demitri_t3 жыл бұрын
It's not about simplicity really, it's about relationship. Script/scenario complexity cannot replace deep relationship. I'll compare with the FF7 which was released the same year (in USA). WA goes with just 3 personas (vs 9 in FF7), but all of them have really deeper relationhip sometimes than the FF7's triangle, and this is why the game is so good. And the intro is so awesome, even the epic FF7 intro can't stand really.

Was feeling nostalgic, here in the early summer of 2024. Searched and found this video. It has been a over 20 years since I last played this back in the late 90's. I still got goosebumps from this song, from the sense of adventure it invoked in me. Even felt a little lump in the throat when the video briefly shows the earth golem, because of the Chad it was, and because of the heroic sacrifice it made in the end. I still whistle this song very often, so many years later. And I can say it was because of this song that I can whistle tunes so well today. The land of Filgaia was a wonderful place to get lost in as a kid. 🥹

I heard this soundtrack over some beers with my best friend in the first year of university about 8 years ago. Its pure beauty, feel, and passion drove me to seek out this game and buy it; over a decade after it came out. I don't regret it for a single second. I'll never forget hearing the Town Theme in game for the first time, and actually sitting there listening to it, thinking how simple, yet powerful it was. Each level or area I visited captivated me. This was the first game that did that with the soundtrack alone. Wild Arms holds such a special place in my heart, and I didn't have to play it as a child. It taught me the role that a soundtrack plays in a game's excellence. This game wasn't groundbreaking as an RPG, and truth be told, it doesn't age the best in terms of gameplay. But the music is timeless, and keeps me coming back to it time and time again.

33 people have no heart. One of the most amazing intros/songs of any game, they don't make them like this anymore...

I've never even played this game (Only played 2 and 3) and I'm shedding a tear at this OP. It's so hauntingly beautiful.

This was the song that made me realize that I knew how to whistle when I was a kid. Sometimes I whistle this tune till now tbh. Wild Arms will always be a precious part of my life. I just wish I can play the game again. Unfortunately I don't have the PS1 or the game anymore.

They really don't make JRPG intro's like this anymore. What a very unique time to be alive during this era. I was so excited to boot this game up as a kid, the opening was always the most exciting thing to draw me into the world of Filgaia/Fargaia; and I was always so happy to look forward to opening's like this but 4 was the last good one. This game will always be the most sincerest expression of what true nostalgia is to me.

Oh no,, they definitely do. Most JRPG intros follow this sort of style of opening, and have only improved over the years with meaningful lyrics to go with it. Makes sense having nostalgia for Wild Arms, titles like Revelations: Persona's "Once, I dreamt I was a butterfly" or Trails in the Sky FC's "Hoshi no Arika" had absolutely amazing openings that were meant to convey the experience of those games just like Wild Arms.

@@thequincy_ To be fair I've dropped off the JRPG scene for the past few years. I just know when they started going the 3D route/realtime rendering of openings in the mid to late 2000s seemed like things were losing their charm in the genre.

That is the first rpg that i played. And one of the bests. And that is the the best opening ever.

Yeah that would be great! I hope in the future more things like that happen on the Vita. I look at all the JRPGs Japan gets on the Vita and suddenly I become a sad panda.
