This story was very interesting and well told. We still have a fascination about Wild Bill and the way in which he lived his rather short life and the manner of his death. Bill seemed to have a premonition of death and yet he did not insist on changing seats at the poker table when the men seated there refused his requests to change seats with one of them. I suppose he could have become more insistent but chose not to which turned out to be a fatal mistake. Bill also had no real internet in laboring out in the hot August sun digging for gold. Far more appealing was sitting in a cooler salon and drinking a glass of whiskey while manipulating the picture cards.Poker was Bill’s true love.

I don't see why he would ever sit with his back to the door after that first incident. Always watch your back.

Wild bill was a name given 2 men back then when a reputation was earned not a singular person

Wild Bill was quite a character. I think what most of us know about him came from watching the TV series Deadwood, but I think the show did him a pretty fair turn.
@johnjohnon87673 жыл бұрын
I never seen deadwood. But I read articles and other sources to get an idea. You had the good, bad, and the meek.

Probably because he was going blind, and he knew there were many bad guys that still wanted him dead.

Of course a gunman like Wild Bill felt his days were limited - those were the days of “ live by the gun, die by the gun.”

Buffalo Bill going west said there 4 in the group named Bill ,they gave him the wild bill tag because he was always fooling with his gun, About gun fighting Buffalo Bill said wild Bill didn't have a fast draw and wasn't the best shot but he won because he always started first..

Who or what was he referring to as "California Joe"?
@KansasMan-om1xh3 жыл бұрын
California Joe was a friend of Hickok's who he knew from his days as a scout for the military. California Joe in Deadwood when Wild Bill was there so he knew Joe would watch his back
@talbotsplace73163 жыл бұрын
He was portrayed in a rather hokey fashion in "They Died With Their Boots On."
@douglasturner61533 жыл бұрын
I remember him from that Errol Flynn movie and some other's as well. He couldn't have backed Wild Bill up in Deadwood though if he died at the Little Big Horn in June 1876.
