Which optic is best for hunting pigs, usually at short distances (30-40 meters), sometimes at distances of 80-100 meters and in dense forests? Lpvo(1-4x24) or red dot? Note: Maximum range is 100 meters.

This randomly appeared in my notifications, and I am loving it. But I do have one question that I hope someone can answer. I’ve watched the hunting videos of hogs in Texas and in the rest of the states, and when they are shot they squeal, well, like a pig! These guys seem to be silent. Is there a big difference between those wild boars in Europe and the wild boars over here?

I’m hoping to shoot a Silverback, as the hands make excellent novelty ash trays. I already own a prized pair of slippers made from rare white rhino, but they inform me that i will have to settle for a standard grey hide in the future. I do miss the good old days. I have recently received an all in one pair of trousers that I have had tailored from a giraffes neck, fortunately the neck was long enough to facilitate both legs without the potential horror of a difference in pattern on either leg. I have huge respect for the wild life I hunt and insist on using high calibre automatic weapons reducing the suffering significantly. I also attempt to eliminate the whole family whenever possible to alleviate grief of any remaining siblings, parents etc.....ethical slaughter.

On the statistic maybe, but in a driven hunt no statistic matters, if i had all time i need to aim yes, but if i need to aim quick, i would choose something bigger than 30.06 mine is a 300 WM

.308,30-06 and 300 win mag have the same bullet diameter with different welocities.300win mag is deffinietly overkill in driven hunt.This german guy usses most of time 7x64 which have lower energy than 308

In Romania is not allowed to use 308 in wild boar hunt because of a stupid law. About what kind of ammunition they use the only thing that matter is to put down that boar and, as you could see, all the bullets past through the body of the animals. I think in Romania half of the hunters still use a side by side 12 or 16 caliber shotgun because in driven hunts most of the shots will be under 50 meters and sometimes a scope is not useful at all. So yes, with a 308 you can shoot at 700 meters better than a 30-06 but here it doesn't matter so a 30-06 makes a great job also and the most important thing is to know how to place a good shot no matter what caliber you use.

As awesome as this is. I dislike European styles of hunting. It has this air of being only for the upper classes and is actually really unfair to me. You sit in a blind and wait for them ti come screaming to you while running away from who knows what. I don't know maybe I'm just too American lol.
