I grew up working at a marina from 9 years old to 17 (basically babysat at the young ages, but still put to work as a dockhand making tips) on the western basin of Lake Erie in the mid 90s to early 2000s. Every year there was a Poker Run, and the highways where filled with skaters, and offshores being trailered in. I loved the morning of - boat hatches open, mechanics working, boats starting up, test runs, crowds gathering. Boating up here hasn't been as hot as the 90s, but man these few past years it sure has made a big comeback. Love your videos.

If the same horse power, the outboards will smoke the inboards. Lighter weight, better weight distribution. Thing is is the inboards can put up monster horse power numbers. But then weight, cost, maintenance goes up along with speed. So your question is a bit vague

It amazes me how fast the outboard boats are compared the monster blown big blocks that probly make triple or quadruple each of the outboards. I know way higher rpms but still.

Strange little world. Teams of guys spending whopping huge amounts of money, the time and logistics of it all and then the capper, they all wear odd uniforms. Not really knocking it but, never having been a part of it, it simply looks a bit bizarre and would like to understand it better. Back in 97 used to pilot a 70 Cary that had a turbine, did 65 knots.
