Wild Camp AT LAST The BLACK MOUNTAIN

We finally get out on a wild camp at llyn y Fan Fawr . Not much walking on this one but it was fantastic to get out and there's even some fox news .

Always amazes me the treeless mountains you hike on. In the states are mountains are covered with trees. You plan a trip over here and do some hiking. Glad to see the fox came back and had another litter of pups.

We get a lot of comments from overseas saying that . It’s an odd one as some say our mountains used to be tree covered but I think with the weather conditions and thin layer of soil before solid rock means they just can’t grow. It does make our mountains seem a lot higher than they are when your on them though which is a bonus . The downside is there’s just nothing to slow the wind so from 4-500m your well exposed . We’d dearly love to visit the States and Canada but it’s the usual story with funds I’m afraid . One day 🤞

Nice to see you guys back out. I certainly second that Decathlon pillow ... it's the only pillow which I find at all comfortable (that I've tried). But I think it was Scots Wild Camper who said "you don't go wild camping for a good night's sleep" 😜 though that pillow is the closest I've come. Another brilliant vlog. 👏

Phew! There's me thinking you'd been kidnapped by aliens. Great to see you both out hopefully you'll get out more from now on. I'd love to see more of the mountain biking especially as I've upgraded to an eBike this year. I went up Cadair Idris on my Marin about 20+ years ago I went up the Pony Path. My favourite hiking path up there is the Foxes Path from Gwernan Lake Hotel

Hello Eddie , hope you’re all good up there . Yes it would be an understatement to say we’ve struggled to get out in the tents or anything else for that matter 😔. What with three grandkids now and me starting a new position a few months back , we just constantly seem to be booked up . To make matters worse , we were off to the French alps a week on Friday but have fallen foul of the eu passport laws and can’t go . Can’t even get a refund on the ferry ! . So, it’s another uk road trip for us after all . Oh well , a holiday is a holiday I guess . We’ve been enjoying all the WHW vids , looked like you all had a blast , hard not to with such a good group of folk . Hope you’ve been enjoying the weather , we had floods down here yesterday but I still don’t miss grafting in 40 degree heat , god it nearly killed me! Anyway as this is the longest comment on KZbin I’ll bid you farewell lol it would be GREAT to meet up in the future and have a camp so if you do another wales with Ged or anything just let us know when and we’ll go from there 👍. @@2FeetForward Pity about the Alps trip they not making travel easy now. Yeah family first I'm looking after me dad full time but I still be able to get out occasionally. I doing the SUW in October with the same WHW crew. I think foxes are beautiful animals not seen any for ages. Ged got twin grandkids and so has Sinclair but maybe next year we can arrange a Wales wildcamp. I really enjoyed my Wales trips despite the weather generally not great and everything in Polish lol. I’d definitely give this place a nightover as it’s got a more isolated feel to it , maybe not as dramatic as Fan Fach but you can climb up the side of the lake to the top for the grand views 👍

Hi Austin and Lucy, I hope you guys are keeping active and well? Did your Fox's return for another year? Your videos are always a pleasure to watch and have inspired us to convert my old transit connect into a weekend campervan to get out and see more of our stunning countryside. It's a little tight for space inside the van but we have just completed a two-week trip around the Scottish Highlands and somehow we're still talking to each other! 😊 Now in our 50's e-bikes are looking more attractive, do you have any tips or advice on what to look out for when purchasing? Hi guys , we’re all good thanks, hope the same with you . Bet your trip was ace , we love the highlands. How were the midges ? The ebikes will be a game changer . For that price range I’d definitely recommend looking at the Decathlon hardtail . Their bikes are always recommended by magazines and online as the best value . The question is , a rear hub drive or mid motor ( motor at the pedals) the latter is the better for sure but the former is cheaper . The other and by far cheaper option is to buy a ‘bolt on ‘ kit . For around £800 you can get a great kit that’s pretty easy to fit to your existing bike , I think Bafang do good one . There is a guy on here that recently bought a Decathlon bike , Blackdog Wild Trails which could be worth a look . Hopefully we’ll get out again soon and make a vid but the grandkids seem to scuppering that at the moment 🙄. Happy trails and you never know our paths might cross by bike or van 👍

Thank you. Sad to say but we lost our boy last year on the day before the first lockdown . We miss him loads 😞 . Just starting to realise I need to fill the hole he’s left . It’s just not the same without a 🐕.

@@2FeetForward I'm so so sorry to hear this sad news, me and my husband did wonder, Marley always looked like he was a having fantastic time with you guys. he must have had the best life🐾 we were just hoping Marley had gotten too old to come out and join you on your adventures, our dog is 12, we've only recently started camping, I haven't been able to join my husband on his wild camping trips yet, so I've only done camp site trips, our dog has epilepsy he can manage camp sites and it would just too much for him to wild camp so I stay at home to look after him, not easy to find a dog sitter. We're Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures. God bless you Marley ❤❤🐾

Bittersweet: so happy to see you resurface and hit the trails again; so so very sorry you’ve lost the company of your faithful 4-legged companion. 🥲 always amazed me how he kept up with you on those frigid snowy hikes at his age. Dare I say we will All miss him. RIP Marley. 🐾

Hi Matt, we’ve been off for so long I don’t get notifications on comments now lol. It’s been all work and grandkids for us I’m afraid . We have been getting away in the camper but just not videoing it. I decided to video our two week trip to Spain a couple of weeks ago but we woke to a bastard in the front of the van at 3am on the second night . He bolted with Lucy’s handbag and my vlogging camera , the handbag had our passports in 😡😡. I did video the trip but unfortunately on my old wobbly GoPro 4 black so I’ll see if I can salvage anything decent 🤞. Hope all is well with you and hopefully I’ll get a shaker vid up soon 👍
