December wild camp on Bamford Edge in Peak District with visit to bronze age stone circle at Hordron Edge. Intended to photograph full moon but instead took photographs into the sun giving some great silhouettes

Damn right! Me, me best mate and our kid all subscribe and love him. The most interesting but still down to earth and real of all the camping/hiking vlogs. He shows kit, but not too much, he's not obsessed with it like others, he cooks what he wants. It's real.

Hey Pat, hope you are well and enjoying the beer festivals another summer plans! I’ve been making my way through your back catalogue of videos on here and particularly enjoyed this old one of the trip you did to Bamford edge. The silhouette Videos and pictures of you standing on the edge are Brilliant and so evocative of the beauty of the Peak District. I always find your videos inspiring and the day after I watched this one I got up early and climbed up a rocky crag near where I live and admired the view while I cooked bacon and drank coffee. The early morning really is the best time of day,Thanks for reminding me of that Pat. All the best STEVE.

Silhouette photo's worked out great Pat. Scenery up there is beautiful. If the wind dropped I could fly the paramotor over there but not to worry cos when the wind blows it's an excuse to wild camp instead. A win win situation in my book. Nice bit of history too:) Sandy

Hi Sandy yes the sun came up through the haze and just provided the opportunity for the silhouette, ( hardest thing was spelling silhouette, I have to look it up each time I write it) Its often very windy up here, sometimes fly radio control but not easy to get a calm day in the hills, you would get a fantastic view from your paramotor, retracing the Dambusters flight over Derwent Dam would be unforgettable I,am sure, thanks Pat

Enjoying your videos Patrick, spent many summer holidays up in the Dales with the family when I was a kid, mainly in Hawes. Brings back memories. Only camped once in the Moors on a YTS team building mission, we got badly lost and it took some time to convince the team we were always going in the opposite directions to the way-points. Keep up the video's mate!.

as usual great video. I have to admit, I love watching your videos because i can't wait to see what you pull out of the bag to eat! Your the best outdoor cook. I honestly think you only like to go camping to cook :) I've learned a few things from you with respect to cooking outdoors. And yes your meal did indeed look nice. Amazing place to camp. Merry Christmas Patrick. All the best to you.

KungFu Master Hi yes I think your right a major part of a camp is cooking a nice tasty meal, sometimes I know what to cook before I now where to camp. Hanford Edge is a great location hope to camp there again in better weather. Thanks for comments and watching and all the best for the new year, Pat

Wonderful as usual Patrick. Sitting here next to the warm radiator with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon (snowing in Edinburgh), watching some Patrick Dickinson. Lovely! By the way, I’m expecting delivery of my first Hilliberg tent tomorrow..... so excited. After 6 months of deliberation, rotating between Soulo, Rogan, Akto, Niak.... finally went for the Niak - 3 season, super light, very spacious for 1 person.... your vids helped to inspire! I’ll put a review on KZbin in due course.

Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos, really appreciated. Once again had my mouth watering over that steak. Great photos. Read somewhere that Win Hill's name derived from Anglo-Saxon for something to do with a pigs enclosure, but the battle seems more interesting! Also wondered if win hill being directly south-west of the circle could have something to do with the winter solstice - as viewed from the circle the sun would set over Win Hill on the shortest day of the year. Keep up the good work.

Hi Roy,lovely that steak was, I suppose many story's of how hills etc got there names, your pig theory maybe right, I like mine even though not sure of its truth. The stones may have something to do with winter solstice as I did see a photo of the sun rolling down the side of the Win hill stone, on the solstice, very interesting. All the best for the new year Pat

21:20 your right Patrick, the stones are set to mimick the horizon, for orientation purposes, at some point during the year the moon or sun would rise either between the stones or something along those lines, when it did it meant something to the Bronze age people, we've got a few stones in Wales that do the same thing 👍

Yes Jason unbelievably that the stones were errected all that time ago, and the way they mimic the distant hills is amazing.....thanks Pat
