Hi Alyn. That was a tough night on the mountains. Fair play on getting the tent up, I'm sure a few choice words were used 😊. Glad everything went OK in the end, and you got down safely. All the best 👍

@@Andrew......... thanks pal. It was all very organised for a while and then the wind ramped up. At that point all bets were off and I wasn't sure what was happening. Lol. Good preparation and good decisions are key.

Great video Alyn and thanks for putting the effort in. The tent took what was thrown at it with no problems, pretty impressive I have to say. I much prefer winter camping to summer camping, I enjoy getting all comfy and relaxing through the long nights.

@@ExploreAboveAndBelow and thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. The wee tent help up ok, but im not sure it would have been so successful if I had been directly in that wind. The Wall did most of the heavy lifting. I get what you mean. I love camping in the snow. I love how the sound changes and how the mountain takes on a completely different character. Thanks for your comments.

Great video Alyn. Shows how the actual weather can differ so much from Barras forecast 😂 I spent an exciting night at that very pitch during the autumn. Started off sheltered from the not to bad wind but during the night, wow. Think the wind rips around and over those tors making things interesting. Anyways, ya live to tell the tail 👍

@@alanlyness8413 was wild, Alan but a great adventure. I think that's why I love Bearnagh, its so changeable. Glad you got off the mountain ok too pal. It can all get a bit hairy very quick!

Hi Alyn. That was brutal. It’s not often that I would watch a man in a tent chat about his experience without heading for tea but I was engrossed in everything that you said and learned a lot from you. Such an engaging manner. I do hope that your injuries have/are healing and after falling into a ditch on Divis I fully sympathise. Stay well that you for the shout out and encouragement. Robert, Daphne and not forgetting Charlie The Retriever.

@@robertmccrea1957 Thanks Robert. Was so good to see you on the trail. Now, stay in touch. Im glad you found the video engaging- I was worried it was too chatty and didn't have enough interest so, its good to hear that it kept you from your cuppa. Lol. Say hi to Daphnia and Charlie for me.

Great honest video there Alyn with good advice all the way through it. I think you nailed the sound of the wind up there when it kicks up, the roar and power of it is unworldly. I’d be the same with the wind speeds 25/30 mph would be the limit anything above that isn’t any fun. Food looked delicious as always 👌.
@walkwatchers5 күн бұрын
@@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors mate! I have never been so frightened but it taught me so much. Yeah, I totally agree 25-30mph is strong enough, anything over that and you risk losing equipment and your health!!!!! I've decided im really not that kind of outdoor adventurer. Ha ha ha.
@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors5 күн бұрын
@ totally agree about risking the kit and your health, which by the way I hope all is ok now. Your doing a great job as an outdoor adventurer, I really enjoy settling watching the episodes. Would you have any advice for people that do get caught out when up there with the winds, would you recommend trying to bail or hunker down and get through it?
@walkwatchers5 күн бұрын
@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors I think, best case scenario you try to get down safely but conditions were dark, thick low cloud and crazy strong winds that had blown me over once already. Now I had an injury, I'd have to negotiate gettin over the wall again and down the mountain, I thought it was too much risk. Good decisions like, good pitch and good prep meant I was confident to stay put for the night. Plenty of water, food, dry clothes & warm sleeping bag meant i shouldve been ok. So was best to stay and weather it out til morning. I guess it needs assessed as it comes to you, Geoff.
@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors5 күн бұрын
@@walkwatchers I definitely think you done right and like you say, prep work is essential, good gear and some warm food. I think I’d have done the same, far too many challenges to overcome in the dark, hunker down and trust the gear.

Very frightening experience. Especially with the injuries on the way up
@walkwatchers5 күн бұрын
@@tonyowens40 Yeah, I have never been afraid on the mountains quite like that. Have decided I'm not an extreme hiker! Lol But it taught me so much. Im pleased my preparation was good and my decisions about where to pitch and staying in place when the wind got up were right. But I'll not be hurrying out in weather like that again.
