Morning Paul - and it's always good to hear from you too 😁 I really enjoyed this one, just sat on a windy night enjoying being in a tent lol, it's sometimes the littlest of things that can mean the most. I've got a week off work starting today so that'll be good for my foot (mind I've got a few things half planned as well 😏) and fingers crossed I get 'the op' over the darker colder months so I don't miss heading out as much.

Nice view, and a relaxing camp is the way to go. It's always a pleasure.

Most wild campers don't head to places like these - they're all after the glory hills, or epic crags etc. I love a chilled out camp, tucked away with a half decent view, away from the world for a night. perfect 😊

Aw cheers Mick - I'm looking forward to getting a replacement, I can't carry on like I've been doing, but at least now I know why it's been hurting 😂 Still waiting on initial appt with ortho dept at Northumbria but that should come through in next few weeks. If I got 'the op' over winter that would be ideal! I'll remember the name Ian Carluke & if I get him I'll tell him he's coming highly recommended 😁 Xx

Cheers Mick, not seen you out and about much lately? I hope all is ok. Yeah this was an excellent random find, just enough to tick the recharge boxes without being too strenuous. Have appt with Ortho Surgeon end of next month, so that's not too long to wait. Foot still really painful though, one just has to crack on :)

@@donnavansenior yeah last camp was on great end about 3 weeks ago, been out in the van a bit lately, but don’t tend to post any photos of that, good that you are gonna see the docs, hopefully you get back to full fitness soon, looks like you been enjoying the bikepacking lately 👍, been looking to do a bit mesell soon, hopefully this weather keeps nice from now🤣, atb Mick 👍

Hi Teddy - it was on the radio this afternoon - forget June, there is no summer to be had anywhere in June, we've just got to keep the faith for July coming.......hahaha X

Hey up Donna, nice to see you out and about again, albeit a windy one. You call that cotton grass, I've always known it as "Flax", but it is lovely to see it blowing in the wind. Replacement knee, broken bone in foot, creaky joints, what you doing? Sorry Donna, we are all getting there bit by bit. First 2 weeks in July we are up in North East Yorkshire, so plenty of chances to ride those lovely Wold lanes, and get up onto the North Yorkshire moors. Take care Donna, try not to break anything else, and look forward to seeing your next video. xx Gray
@donnavansenior5 ай бұрын
Hya Gray - I've never heard it called flax before, I thought Flax was a seed health conscious people ate to feel nourished 😂😂 up here in Northumberland it's called Cotton Grass - mind the romans named it Eriophorum angustifolium, but I'm sure you'll agree Cotton Grass is a better name 😁 I'm walking wounded at the mo, not been right for hitting on a year, the foot is a re-fracture of a hiking injury last year, it's nipping quite a bit but I've still been going to work. As for the knee - it's not been right for years, but I took a nasty fall about 8-9 months ago and thought I'd damaged it, so that was the only reason I eventually got in touch with the docs etc. Turns out I don't have much knee left, so that's why it's been painful 😬😂 I've just been adding some North Yorks cycle rides to my YT 'watch later' list, so funny you mentioned that! Hopefully the weather will be a tad better come July Xx

Sorry to hear about your foot and knee troubles Donna. I kept putting off my knee replacement until one day it gave out on me and that was it, had my knee replacement 1 year ago, wished i had had it done sooner, but you live and learn 🙂. Only one piece of advice if i may, after the op, dont skimp on those exercises its bloody hard work but so worth it. Good luck👍
@donnavansenior5 ай бұрын
I've heard a few people say that Loz - about making sure to do the exercises properly. I'll have nowt much else to do so I'll be sure to do them as prescribed 👍🏼Good to hear you're getting on well with your new knee, I always thought mine wasn't right - well for the last 5-7 yrs easily it's been really painful especially after a good days hike - and I never thought to go to the docs. Stupid of me when I look back. Fingers crossed I get the op during winter time so I'm not missing out on good weather for being outdoors😂

That was a beauty that one Mark! Mind the whole gate had to be lifted up to get it to open....closing was the hardest, because you had to stand in the boggy puddle on t'other side to lift it back up and close it. Ah the joys of country life 😂

New knee that will put you out camping for about 12 weeks , my brother has just had his 2nd knee done in February. You are proper in the wars at the mo , still it was good that you managed a chilled camp in the mountain star. Are you getting an e-bike with a motor built into the crank as opposed to a rear or front motor ? Weather is so unreliable at the mo , rain no rain sun no sun and still quite cool for June. Happy camping atb Dave
@donnavansenior5 ай бұрын
Yeah I sort of reckoned 3-4 months off work and minimal outdoors stuff. Hopefully they'll fit me in over winter so I don't miss out on the summer weather 😂😂 I'm all new with anything e-bike - I had no idea about anything like rear and front motors or crank motors. What would you recommend? I'm wanting a hybrid with front suspension, something with hopefully a 40-50 mile radius on it. I heard Bosh motors were good? I'm a totes newbie so any advice will be gratefully received. Cheers Dave :)
@BorderRambler5 ай бұрын
@@donnavansenior mine is rear motor more of a hybrid type , as you pedal the motor kicks in . Range is anything from 40-50 miles but factors like , hills, wind, and weight on the bike will reduce this ! The mid motors give the best torque but you will be looking at £3k price range !! But yeah those Bosch motors are really good and reliable. But I would try and test one out , Decathlon do some decent budget priced e-bikes too and you have a store nearby 🚲👍

Nice one Donna, and yes, I agree, you keep your secret locations, as I know all to well, other folk can ruin them, I returned to where Bud an I used to camp - canal - where we found folk that night, only to discover they had left arse-ends of candles (thrown in the bush), and what really p*ssed me off was they cut a branch off a living tree (to use for pulling the guyline out) pr*cks.. If they ever return when I'm there, there will be words.. 🤬 Anyway, apologies for the rant.. Hope your foot recovers, as for the knee, replacement perhaps? 🤔 I had a friend who proclaimed once "these aren't my knees" only for another friend to immediately say "who's are they then?" 😆 Good to hear you get out without the camera sometimes, no need to take us with ya all the time 👍 Cheers for sharing anyhoo Take care All the best D & B 👍

It's heart-breaking - and infuriating - when you know other people have been camping in 'your spot' and they've left mess and not respected the place....that'd be it, I'd never go back. It's worse for you because I know there's not many places you feel camping in round your way and that was one of your go-to pitches with Buddy. Yeah, physio said I'd need a replacement - he said it was 'severely degraded', I'm just waiting on an appt with the hospital now. Fingers crossed I get the op over winter so I don't miss being able to head out as much, I hear waiting lists aren't as long for new knees now. I told a pal at work I needed a replacement and she said 'who do you get them off??' hahaha I was like 'no, not donated joints, it's like a bionic part 😂😂' Cheers you two, I hope you find yourselves a good new spot 🙏🏼⛺💚
