I have to agree with you here about wild camping solo. Ots by far the most relaxing way to do it. I couldn't think of anything worse if I was already set up there and a gang of people rocked up and pitched near me 😂😂 I'd hate it

Loved those moody skies at the start and I knew you would go, I remember solo Greece a few years back, so I knew nothing would stop you, which was great to see. Very interesting to also see the new Helm 1, as I have the previous version it the same tent, so wondered how you found it? The scenery was jaw dropping and a real moody Highland day to start walking, which did not look the easiest in parts but it did look looked so exhilarating. Always loved your honest and straight talking and really looking forward to seeing you do some solo walk camping this year, everyone has they own comfort levels, no matter how friendly and welcoming others are. The morning view when you opened you tent was amazing and shows (imo) there is no place like the Highlands for raw, unspoilt beauty. Loved the photos at the end and you sure packed in a lot into the weekend, real good to see! Cheers Alan

Aww Metalman it was an amazing experience, I loved that morning View too, just epic scenery, I loved all of it. Yes I always like to drift off on my own, my Greece trip was one of those occasions 😂. I was impressed with the tent, I think I've finally found 'my tent' after a few trial and error purchases, I'm looking forward to putting it to the test this year that's for sure. I was surprised that I managed the pack weight too, I thought I would struggle on such a steep and varied terrain, something that's always put me off doing more wild camps. Nothing g stopping me now. Thanks for watching, and your support (as always) is much appreciated. 👍😊

Well done Sue, that looked pretty hardcore, and you are used to yomping about in hilly areas. Scotland is stunning especially Glen Coe. Wild camping is free, i saw people camping on the shore by Loch Lomond Febuary this year, what a view to wake up to. I'm sure lanky Legs will love it too. I'm not keen on traveling in big groups, nice to be on your own away from tha maddening crowds sometimes, for peace and quiet.Untill your next adventure stay safe.

Oh Sue didn't realise it was your first trip to The Highlands. We were up for a week in the same area and only got back yesterday. Really glad you enjoyed Glencoe and the weather was good for you (rain and high winds every night whilst we were up). We know a few spots to camp that are easy to get to if you need any advice for your next trip. Really enjoyed the video and watching you walk where we had been only a couple of days ago. Not long before you'll be up there again I bet!

Well done Sue. That's a great place to wild camp and interduce yourself to Scotland and its not an easy scramble up especially with little legs 😂. I also had a great wild camp there with my best friend Max and loved it, Stunning area and I'm lucky to be working not far from Glencoe. great to see you out wild camping again. Really enjoyed watching. Atb Steve 👍

Loved this video. I've just returned from a holiday in Scotland and we drove past the Three Sisters yesterday on our way home. We know of the Hidden Valley and are planning a walk there the next time we're up that way. So glad to see you had a fab camp there and it was wonderful to meet you at the National Outdoor Expo in Birmingham a few weeks ago.

Brilliant video. Not sure about that hike in, looked a bit hairy. Nice to see Jimmy and Sean, although I was half expecting Sean to whip out his deluxe camping chair. Agree about large groups, it's nice to be with other people but it's also nice to be in your own space. 😊

This as been on my list to do for awhile I think this is the best vid I've seen of the hidden valley showing more of the route and more of the views and the valley itself.i only ever do solo wild camping I can go at my own pace and stop and camp where I like.the extra weight you have for camping is totally different to doing day walks but it's worth it when you get to stay in places like this👍

Great that you personally had such a great time but I totally disagree with large groups going out for a wildcamp, it's surely not about being around so many people, (the whole idea being solitude or as near as possible) the impact on such an already relatively well used area looked a bit obscene and basically just not right.
@backpacksandbruises
@backpacksandbruises Жыл бұрын
Thanks John, I understand that. I did feel uncomfortable with a large group at first. But everyone was respectful of the area and of each other. We were half way down before the morning hikers were out, so we didn't spoil anyone else's experience of the place. As I said in the vid, the solitude would suit me better, but in unknown terrain, that would not have been a wise move for me personally. A great group of mindful people, I hope to join again. Thanks for watching.

I guess Everest base camp would not be on your bucket list? Exactly how many people and tents were there, Johnb? I wonder if these are a group of like-minded, experienced, respectful individuals, simply getting together for a shared experience? There are a lot of obscene things in this World and I'm not convinced this falls into that category? Happy camping friend ❤️
