Major farm update with pond build, crawfish catch & cook, and more! I go night fishing for crawfish at a mountain lake after picking up my very first goats and bringing them back to the farm. I'll be out Trout fishing again soon and will be sure to catch more crayfish / crawdads.

Crawdads burrow. So unless you have a thick layer of rubber or plastic, with a layer of clay about 2 feet thick, they'll end up draining your pond

Just throwing this out there but I buy the square black crawfish traps from Walmart then get the small like .80 cent can of salmon or tuna flavored catfood from dollar general and I just crack the lid on the can and stuck it in the trap and I always end up with 50-60 crawfish per trap here in oklahoma.

@@marianneleth4957 I get them in drainage ditches all the time. Our crawdads dig holes in the ground and when the ditches fill after it rains they will all come out and attack the cat food like crazy.

If that were my spot, I'd paint that basketball court pavement white, cover with shade cloth, and build a bunch of raised garden beds. Have it screened in, and have roll up/down clear plastic, so you could use it as a green house in the winter. Raising goats is epic! Never a dull moment. You need to build a good trimming station. A bench like structure for the goat to stand on while you sit, and trim their hooves. You build a little harness that you can clip their collar to, and put a bowl of treats like fresh snipped tree growth or fruit, to distract them from the trimming of the hooves. This also desensitizes the females, if you plan to milk them for cheese in the future.
