It's also inspiration for the red "level up" mushroom from the Mario games. IIRC one of the hallucinatory effects is feeling "bigger", hence why Mario gets bigger when he eats them in the game

I always hated mushrooms growing up, but you and Taku got me to try some legit fresh ones recently and I've found that I actually love them. Turns out I just didn't like the canned ones. So far I've tried lobster, chanterelle, oyster, and crimini mushrooms and loved them all.

@Majestic Pickle I totally agree with you on canned mushrooms they are foul and even the smell turns my stomach, I think it's the so-called butter sauce they sit in. When I fry my own mushrooms in butter there is no way I will turn that into a sauce I just use salt and pepper and they are delicious. I also love them raw too. Michelle

Amanita muscaria won't make you dead or seriously ill. You'll get a trip. It's relative the death cap and destroying angel are truly dangerous. BTW, the bolete family has the best eating mushrooms that are choice. I'd suggest carrying along the excellent Audubon mushroom field guide when looking for fungus. Excellent reference and well done. I carry one.

Thank's Leif, for all your hard work in making these video's! I make wilderness vids from time to time, and people have no idea how much work it is to make them, and edit them! They always uplift my heart! Thought I'd quickly share a little tip that really makes easy fires and is so cheap. I use this all the time ether out on the trail or in my home stead cabin wood stove. It's cotton balls soaked in diesel. You can keep them in a small pill bottle or zip lock bag, and they will burn so hot for 8 minutes even drying out damp tinder, and because they burn for so long, you don't have to use small twigs. Hope you try this idea, as you will be surprised! Love ya Bro!

Back in 1971 I had an amazing German Shepherd pup, 11 months old. I took him back over Duck Pass south of Mammoth Lakes in the California Sierra's. We hiked down into the Fish Creek area for what was then one of the best trout fisheries in the Golden State. Amazing, with a huge amount of fish. Gandolph was one of my best dogs ever.
