On 02/27/2023 at approximately 0921 hours myself and TPR Goodman were dispatched to an active pursuit on I-20 West involving a stolen concrete truck. Throughout the pursuit the concrete truck was actively spilling wet cement and dry rocks on the roadway, causing a driving hazard to the public. When we were notified, the pursuit was located at MM 160. I advised the Troop E Communications center that we would be enroute to MM 145 to setpu stop sticks. Upon arriving at MM 145, we setup stop stick and continued to monitor radio traffic. The units who were actively pursuing the suspect advised he exited 1-20 at MM 148 and began traveling North on GA 22. The units then advised the violator took a right turn on GA 12 / US 278, traveling east back towards the interstate. I told TPR Goodman to follow me up to MM 154 to try and get ahead of the pursuit and redeploy the stop sticks at the interchange of GA 12/ US 278 and Interstate 20.
While enroute to MM 154, Captain Wilson advised the we needed to be prepared to end the pursuit by shooting the radiator. I told Captain Wilson I was comfortable making that shot and was confident I could disable the radiator. I told TPR Goodman to exit his patrol car at Exit 154 and drive mine. I moved over to the passenger seat, charged my LWRC M6 patrol rifle and turned on the red dot sight. I advised Captain Wilson we were ready to disable the radiator and according to which direction the violator took, I would find a safe location to minimize the risk to the public. The violator made a right turn, getting back onto I-20 West. We entered the pursuit at MM 153, moved into position behind the Concrete Truck and waited for an update from any units ahead with stop sticks or a clear spot in traffic to disable the radiator.
Taliaferro County advised they had two units on I-20 at MM 148 setup with stop sticks. As we approached the exit, the Concrete Truck began to swerve back and forth from the right lane to the left lane, lining up an approach with either deputy to possibly hit them and avoid the stop sticks. He was successful in doing so and did not make good contact with the stop sticks. I was in fear for the lives of the deputies as they were in the open with no cover from the Concrete Truck and were running trying to avoid the Concrete Truck as it veered into a path traveling directly towards them. I knew I had to try to disable the radiator before the violator severely injured an officer or a citizen with his driving. Captain Wilson came over the radio and advised I had a green light to disable the radiator. I told TPR Goodman to monitor east bound traffic and let me know when there was a clear spot with no oncoming traffic. TPR Vining passed the Concrete Truck and moved a tractor trailer over to the shoulder that was in front of the Concrete Truck. I now had no vehicles in front of the Concrete Truck. I told TPR Goodman to cover his right ear and watch oncoming traffic. I told TPR Goodman as soon as there was an opening to yell and I was going to fire. I leaned out the passenger’s side window, pushed my muzzle out in front of the window to minimize the back blast into our vehicle and waited for TPR Goodman’s call. I could see a black rectangular container that appeared to be the radiator over flow and the fins from the radiator directly behind it. With the engine and radiator in the rear of the truck, I would have a clear shot. I also knew with the engine block and concrete filled container between the violator and I would have a low risk of being hit by one of my rounds. TPR Goodman gave me an all clear and I fired several rounds at the radiator overflow and several just above it at the radiator. We instantly had radiator fluid pouring out the back of the truck and from beneath the truck. I advised Troop Communications we were successful and that we had 8 miles before the next exit. We backed off and followed the Concrete Truck at a safe distance waiting it to overheat and seize the engine. As we approached MM 143, Captain Wilson entered the pursuit, traveling in front of the violator slowing him down. We came to a slow stop at MM 142 and exited our patrol cars. I ran up to Captain Wilson’s front quarter panel and covered him while he went to the driver’s side door of the truck. The violator ignored commands and Captain Wilson used a window punch to shatter the window. While covering the captain, he opened the driver’s side door and assisted the violator to the ground. We then placed him in handcuffs and secured him in the back of TPR Vining’s patrol car.
After the incident was secured, I looked at the impact from the rounds and reviewed the video. I had 100% round accountability in the area’s I fired at with 9 rounds fired. I stood by with the Concrete Truck and released it to the requested company, Reeves Towing.

My theory; He was headed for the I16/ I75 intersection to finish the darn thing himself because it’s been a complete cluster for like 14 years and he probably got stuck in the ridiculous construction traffic there for the 3,844th time and lost it.

That's hilarious! 😂 The same thing has been happening on I-75 in Kentucky, from Madison County/Richmond, KY, the big Kentucky River Bridge, and all the way through Fayette County/Lexington, KY for years! The traffic is INSANE on both sides, and they keep repaving the SAME areas over and over again like they are just wasting infrastructure bill money... Kentuckians are really angry about it.

I was a park and recreation director 30 years ago in Georgia and we had correction work crews help us. Our superintendent was always present. It was 1,300 acre complete with Golf Course, Tennis, swim, gyms, ball field, walking tracks, etc. We had a staff meeting and I asked the maintenance director who was looking over the crew he said, "I left them with Joe he's been with me 5 years he's trustworthy" Joe was an inmate. I didn't feel good about it and and sent someone to go check on Joe. Yep he stole our dump truck and headed up I-75 and was gone. I didn't give a crap about Joe just wanted my dump truck back. LOL he ditched it in the woods near Tennessee and no harm was done. Eventually they caught him but I was more happy to get my dump truck back. LOL

Readymix semi driver here. Fam this is my kind of video right here. I can’t wait to watch this!!! Rolling commentary starting…..now! 1:37 I like how he’s using his leftovers to deter the police, even maneuvering around where he wants it to go. Having a joystick in the cockpit has its advantages 2:30 notice how quickly he changes the drum speed? Now see how fast the chute swings out to the left. At those RPMs he’s really stressing the hydraulic system 3:15 “your cars are rated for off-road? Here’s some concrete, enjoy your on-road off-roading!” Cool thing about fronts is you can add water to the load from inside the cab. 4:20 it looks slower in this wide angle shot, but trust me that truck is MOVING 5:56 welp. That’s a bunch of purely inconvenient damage for the cop’s bumpers. He’s got a weapon, and he’s using it effectively. He might win a 1v1 in that front, but there’s no way he’s evading them, may as well save for the finale! 7:40 if I’m not mistaken, the primary pursuit officer is intentionally going into the path of the bouncing stones. If so that’s good thinking; protect the other vehicles from this barrage of stones. Better to have one vehicle damaged than 4. He can stay up front until his windshield cracks. Prediction. 8:50 yup. There’s nothing my Roxanne likes more than a good eye-rub after getting all dusty on site. Why Roxanne? Well, she’s my cement truck that hauls ROCKS and SAND ;) 9:22 do not be deceived. Cement mixers are super slow on the takeoff. Ever been stuck behind me at a light? Yeah I’m mad at me too. Buuut when we’re empty? We’ve got a whole lotta engine and about 15 cubic meters of sailboat fuel. We’re light when we’re empty. And we can move. 10:12 okay. What you need to know about driving a front is that it’s weird. It’s really weird. You’re in the middle of the vehicle directly at the front. You’ve got a big engine at the back. 6-wheel drive with the suspension to match. Problem is, at speed and especially when loaded, it makes for a nervous time. Airplanes bank during turns. Cement mixers, should avoid it. 11:50 aww no way! You can see as he’s turning that he’s got one of his side chutes on. Guy must’ve been coming from a job site 15:14 woah. I had a point, paused, and landed on my truck number. This IS my video! Anyway 65MPH? For my Canadian brethren and everyone else, that’s 104km/h. He’s hitting the truck’s limiter and mashing the pedal. I can’t wait to see how this ends! 17:48 looks like they hit him with the spikes. Let’s see what happens. A missing tire or two is rough, but a 6x6 should be able to handle it, especially while empty 18:10 did I just hear “shoot the radiator, you have the green light?” Makes sense. They’re not accidentally shooting the driver. It would probably take a solid tank round to hit the driver from that angle. Radiator sits at the back, why not overheat him? 18:46 had me nervous. You never know 20:15 serpentine, serpentine! Nice hits on the rad, that’ll bring him to a stop eventually 21:00 “shoot it again” lol I love this lady’s energy 22:29 yeah I’ll take ‘jobs I would not like’ for 1000 please Alex 22:46 you know what? I take that back. That was the smoothest transition I’ve ever seen. Just crossed over it like it was completely smooth or something 23:38 they’ve got him now 24:03 he’s maneuvering the chute around. I’d call their bluff and ram the chute into their rear window. I mean you’ve already come this far, why not have some fun? 24:31 you can clearly see fluids leaking to the left of his middle 25:13 okay, yeah, definitely do not brake check a truck. What they don’t tell you is an empty truck has a lot of braking power. Uhhh don’t get brake checked by a truck either eh? 25:47 it’s just pouring out of there. I feel bad for the engine 26:09 ahaha buddy’s so mad he doesn’t need a gun 26:33 ahahahaha okay they’ll get it stopped pretty quickly, not hard to find the brake. How long’s it gonna take them to find the parking brake, get it out of gear and shut it down? 26:50 ahahahaha they got the truck stopped then left the poor guy to figure it out himself. If you’ve never driven a truck it takes a minute to get oriented, Godspeed Officer LeftBehind o7 27:03 there ya go, you’ve got it stopped now That’s about all I’ve got, this was a great video, hope you guys learned a thing or two! Cheers and happy Labour Day! 33:39 I had to. Of course the first vehicle past just has to be one of the trucks that delivers cement powder to a cement plant like the one that cement truck is coming from. Small world Ahahaha

I remember a driver who did this in Northern California (Yreka, not to be confused with Eureka)), and the concrete in the mixer dried. The company cut a 4 foot square in the tank, and for the next year or so someone'd climb inside with a jack hammer and bust away the solid concrete. Eventually, they got it all remove, welded a plate back on the outside and went on with their business.

*Man accused of leading authorities on multi-county pursuit of stolen concrete truck, hangs himself in Columbia County Jail* UPDATE 3/4/23: - The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate who was accused of stealing a concrete truck on Monday, has committed suicide in jail at the Columbia County Detention Center on Friday. According to authorities, 41-year-old Erik Adam Bodie was found deceased in his cell at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Friday after dying by suicide. According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, an autopsy has been scheduled. COLUMIBA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) - An arrest was made after a driver tried to steal a concrete truck in Columbia County. According to Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the concrete truck was reported stolen from the Gaspro at 4800 Columbia Road in Columbia County shortly after 9 a.m. Monday. According to authorities, a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office deputy was in pursuit of someone driving a stolen concrete truck on I-20W, and troopers were notified. Authorities say that a trooper from Grovetown Post 25 became the primary unit on I-20W at mile marker 183 in Columbia County. According to authorities, two troopers tried to use stop sticks to stop the driver in the concrete truck in order to bring the pursuit to an end; however, it was not successful as the driver exited I-20 at GA 22 in Taliaferro County, continuing north before entering I-20W. The driver has been identified as 41-year-old Erik Adam Bodie. Authorities state that then, Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to use stop sticks on I-20W at mile marker 148, but Bodie swerved towards the deputies and drove around the stop sticks. According to authorities, a trooper riding in a passenger seat of another trooper’s patrol car was able to safely fire rounds into the radiator and hydraulic tanks near mile marker 146, which ultimately disabled the truck. Authorities say that Bodie was then taken into custody. The charges filed against Bodie in Columbia County alone include Felony Theft by Taking, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, two charges of Fleeing/Attempt to Elude a Police Officer for a Felony Offense, Failure to Obey Traffic-Control Devices, two counts of Reckless Driving, and Aggravated Assault. For the Felony Theft by Taking, Aggravated Assault, and Fleeing/Attempt to Elude a Police Officer for Felony Offense charges, bond for Bodie has been denied.

@QemeH
@QemeH 10 ай бұрын
With a vehicle like that (and in any vehicle above certain speeds) the PIT maneuver and similar tactics actually *are* considered to be "potentially lethal force", i.e. the second-to-top step on the foce continuum pyramid. The only escalation from there is intentionally lethal force, i.e. shoot to kill or blow it up. Both is really uncontrolled and can cause severe collataral damages. Shooting at a moving car (effectively) is more difficult than it seems in the movies. There is a (true!) story about a platoon of Rangers trying to stop a fuel truck from entering a staging area of a night time assault in Iran - they shot at the motor, the tires, the driver and even managed to KILL the passenger, but the thing just kept on going. In the end they launched shoulder-mounted AT at it and IT STILL KEPT GOING. When the chain of command heard about the use of AT they immediately ordered a cease fire and they let the truck go, hoping they were fuel smugglers and wouldn't compromise the mission. So, long story short: It's not easy to stop a truck with targeted lethal force.
