Lanuza is currently being treated at Suburban Hospital for his injuries. According to ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Baltimore office, Lanuza is in the country illegally. Due to the crimes committed on February 16, an immigration detainer was issued on Monday. The detainer was launched with Montgomery County Detention Center, where he will be incarcerated following his released from the hospital.

If there’s ever a time to end a pursuit by any means necessary, this is the time. I really don’t understand law enforcement in this country, they do the dumbest things sometimes. ASP will do a pit on a woman that’s driving the speed limit after being lit up for only 40 seconds. and will try to stop any vehicle regardless of the original crime, by any means necessary. Then we have these guys when they have a clear and present deadly threat engaging civilians and police they “stand down”!!!??? Like what?? Seriously?? End the pursuit! He even stopped for a few minutes and as soon as he started driving again they would be more than justified to use deadly force! Absolutely absurd! It’s ridiculous!

"I really don’t understand law enforcement in this country, they do the dumbest things sometimes." It all makes sense if you remember this one little thing. Police prioritize their own safety, and the safety of their fellow officers above ALL else. The ASP will PIT a seemingly harmless driver after only a few seconds because they don't pose any physical or legal threat to them. The Maryland police won't do anything to a psychopath who's rampaging through the streets in a giant truck destroying civilian property because he could potentially harm or kill a police officer, or the officer's actions while trying to stop said suspect could get them into legal trouble. So instead they just sit back and wait for the guy to stop or get stuck, that way he can't ram into them anymore. Remember, the Police are NOT legally obligated to protect you!

But, he will get his justice after all of this. BTW, if you are here illegally and wanted by Homeland Security, why would you wreck your OWN personal vehicle, steal a state tow truck and lead the multiple police departments in a chase through two counties without a getaway plan? I dont understand why government vehicles don't have remote immobilizers installed on them - that would solve this problem very quickly and prevent it from getting further out of hand. If low-rent car dealership can put them on the crap cars they finance to poor people, why cant the government equip its vehicles - its just common sense
@JarofMayonaise7 ай бұрын
That's a slippery slope. Regardless of the flaws inherent with this idea, the main problem will always circle back to giving the government too much control in the name of "national security." If you don't think the gov doesn't want China's social credit score system in the USA you got a few screws loose, as they practically already employ it it's just not in your face like in China. That aside, the immediate flaws with your plan and the one I had involving chipping your actual drivers license like key-fob, there are too many millions of cars out there that would have to be retrofitted with this system. Since every car will need it, there are going to be a LOT of people that know exactly how to get around it or disable it (criminals). On top of that you will have a likely large portion of the population outright refusing to let it be installed in their classic car or whatever. The solution would be to not let them drive until they comply but they will ignore it and it'll be a giant 'rights violation' of some kind. It's actually not any different than trying to take away a 2nd amendment lovers guns...try it and see what happens. Just like with cars, there's simply too many of them out there already to do anything about it without violating someones rights. RFID tie your license to an 'allow list' at the DMV, eliminating internet hacking possibilities but still prone RFID skimmers and just using someone else's legal card to start the car. Lots of positives but just as equally lots of negatives.

@@JohnDoe-jv8tk If those police officers truly wanted to block him in, then they could've. They could've trapped him on all four sides, and then doubled-up their vehicles on all four sides. It could've worked, but the police seemed to be treating it as a high speed chase, where they would just let the driver go and get him later, which was a major mistake. The police in this case played way too much 'cat with mouse'.

Not one of the news anchors seemed to notice. At the end, police used deadly force. You can see the man doubled over in the truck as they prepare to enter and pull him out. Then, once on the ground, police rush and grab a medical bag. The officer distributes some gloves to fellow officers and they render medical aid. That has to mean they shot him. If not, I'd be very surprised.

No, read the article they posted. "The chase happened through multiple jurisdictions. The ordeal ended around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Silver Spring when the vehicle stopped in a wooded area, and officers aggressively smashed the windows with batons and forcefully removed the driver. The suspect was taken to an area hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police."

If this is an emergency response vehicle, might they be listening to police band radio and therefore hearing what the plan is? Also, hitting a police car is Assault with a Deadly Weapon on Police. He's toast!

Crossfire situation. Multiple failures to throw spikes. Multiple failures to pit. Multiple failures by police, period. Too weak to break a window 😂 Someone needs to be accountable here and either resign or be fired.

I've watched shamefully over 50 car chases and NEVER seen one where a police vehicle got hit like that before. I immediately thought when he made that u turn in the gas station and hit that squad car that he should gps himself to the police station to save himself from getting his 🍑 beat.

Front facing flashing red on a tow truck? Is that normal over there? In California you can only use amber lights for utility vehicles even city owned. Caltrans can use rear facing blues though

The laws normally only apply to vehicles driving in traffic. Stopped vehicles engaged in emergency services are exempt.

Here in Oklahoma, our city utility trucks tend to have the red white and blue lights like cops. I lived in California for a while and got used to those amber lights, and when we just recently moved back to Oklahoma, I'd forgotten that they had them here and we kept thinking we had to pull over (husband grew up in California and this is first time out of state). It's interesting to me how they seem to differ from state to state.
@Mach_Style7 ай бұрын
its a Maryland state recovery and rescue truck. They are state owned and patrol the highway to remove disabled vehicles in accidents to keep the highways flowing. They are considered emergency vehicles thus permitted to have flashing reds. Other states will have similar trucks as well and is becoming more and more common.

He must have thought he had more fuel than all the others & a chopper. The cops were content driving around in circles so it’s possible they could run out of fuel. He believed in himself, he showed commitment & patience, he had a great plan. All that time & those miles, all those police cars 🚔 & a helicopter 🚁 then a small patch of mud appeared & ruined everything!

News anchors... ugh... This is a 8900 to 9300 pound veh with re-enfroced push bumpers... The police: 3400 to 3800 pound vehicles designed for speed... These officers and troopers aren't "letting" this guy by, they are not wanting to be rammed and moved off the road and be disabled.. This guy has the upper hand until law enforcement brings in a heavier vehicle or the suspect makes a driving mistake..
