The Wild Mouse was far scarier than the Dragon coaster! It frightened the thunder out of me going around the turns, I was always concerned with the car coming off of the track and falling off... lol

Does anyone remember the fact that this ride had SANDBAGS in the carts to weigh them down? Or that one support beam with red foam padding tapped to it (0:35)? Oh and let's not forget how it was closed for maintenance nearly every time I visited. Lol good old days...

No rumor. I am 57, and remember seeing the Ferris Wheel. It was located in the middle green grassed area by the kiddie park to the left and the shooting range to the right when you enter through the gated fence. I have loved Playland my entire life, and made a KZbin video also. It was much kooler back in those days.

This exact same ride operated at Playland at the Beach in San Francisco in the 50’s and 60’s. It was called the Alpine Racer, and was a patina green color

BACK IN DA DAY!!!!! LOL! Me and my friends used to love The Wild Mouse! These new high tech roller coasters out now, like..."Great Adventures", etc...you will have a heart attack if u ride them! Over 40, your mind and body can't take being that high in the sky, before you actually...DROP! Not just 1 drop, but like 4 0r 5 drops before the ride is over! No thank you! LOL!

Not much that could be done, the ride was old as hell and the company that made it essentially only ever made this one ride. Since they went out of business decades before, playland had been ordering custom made parts for a while already, when they closed the ride they didn't really have any options, it wasn't a very historically important, or even very good ride, so giving it the full custom treatment was far too expensive than it was worth. When the time came that it would have needed a major overhaul to the original parts they decided it was basically the same cost as a new modern ride so scrapped it.

I went to the PNE during the 70s and I was pretty sure this ride was called the "MAD Mouse"...not "wild". I've come across a number of folks who also remember it being called Mad Mouse. Anyone else remember this name? Or does anyone know how and why people called it the Mad Mouse?

Which Playland is this? It's not Rye, NY even though they had a Wild Mouse decades ago. That isn't the Dragon Coaster in the background.

There used to be, in the 1970's a ride like this at the PNE called the Monster Mouse. It was red and was faster and scarier than this one.

its tooo bad playland tossed this classic ride into the garbage it sad that they couldnt see that this was a classic and yes old rides need up keep but playland has a history of getting rid of the past , i m actually surprised the coaster didnt get chopped in the late 90s
