Woohoo! Let’s dive into the enchanting world of mushrooms! Our main goal today is simply to enjoy the sights, but we do come across some edible species. I don’t know about you, but autumn is my favorite season and I’ve been waiting all year for it…. Especially because in Washington State, the peak season for mushrooms is fall 🧡 Although we’ve been to these locations before, mushroom findings and quantities may differ each year. Weather and timing also play a big part. Which means you never know exactly what you’ll find! It’s an adventure 😉 Btw this video was filmed in October & November 2023. Important Note: While I do my best to accurately identify mushrooms, I'm not a professional mycologist. This video is all about sharing our enthusiasm for mushrooms. Don’t rely solely on this video for identification. Consult with a seasoned mycologist or expert to properly identify mushrooms before eating them. There are identification books written by mycologists as well. Hi, my not-quite-6 year old has fallen in love with mushrooms recently, and while looking for ever more mushroom videos on KZbin, we stumbled upon you. He absolutely LOVES your videos. He frequently requests your videos. Although we haven’t ventured past the mushrooms ones, he has seen them all multiple times. This morning, we have been going through your playlist, and he has repeatedly professed his love for you. Some quotes: “Can you play Miss Mina? I love Miss Mina. I put her in my heart.” “Miss Mina is a friend to me, and I’m a friend to her!” “I love Miss Mina. Miss Mina is a gift to me!” Anyway, I thought you should know. ❤

awesome video! i was missing watching mushroom walks with you two! i have some ID suggestions for some mushrooms you found, if you're at all curious! 1:50 and 4:45: the ones you show don't look like lions mane. crust fungi aren't well understood or documented yet, but the ones in this video might be Irpex Lacteus, or maybe Hyphodontia sambuci or Antrodia... idk! 2:10: compare to Hypholoma fasciculare 2:34: Phlebia tremellosa 2:59: probably a Pholiota species or Armilliaria 3:12: Ganoderma species, maybe G. applantum or G. brownii depending on your location. 3:32: probably Phloeomana speirea or a different Mycena or Hemimycena species 3:41: Lepiota species 5:24: Mucronella flava maybe, and the purple stuff above it is Punctularia atropurpurascens 5:34: compare to Fomitopsis pinicola 8:39: compare to Mycena haematopus

I love owls too. When I buried my youngest son; everyone had gone down the hill to the house, leaving me alone at his gravesite. I was sitting there by myself just grieving, when an owl whoop whoop whooped (it’s wings and it was a big one) out of a pine tree above and over my head. (Not close to me, just above me), and it headed across the valley to the road we drive in on to get to our house. I felt so blessed…

I loved watching your mushroom adventures as you identified various mushrooms. My friend just grew some oyster mushrooms and used them in her gravy at Thanksgiving. Many years ago in my life sculpting class with clay, we'd spray our sculpted figures with water and cover them in plastic. When we returned to class a few days later and removed the plastic, we found mushrooms growing out of some of our clay figures! 🍄🍄🍄 Owls are most active at dawn and dusk and have been known to attack people walking in the woods at Discovery Park and other Pacific NW parks. Sometimes carrying an umbrella you can open to shield yourself from dive-bombing owls and crows provides protection. I love owls though and have seen Barred owls and Screech owls in my neighborhood. 🦉🪶

The mushrooms loved your clay figures so much that they decided to make it their home 💕 Thank you for the umbrella tip! I'll let Mommy Oh know so she can keep one next to her at the jacuzzi 😎
