Mushroom hunting is a skill. It takes time to learn which ones are edible. Yes, mosquitoes are a thing here in Minnesota, at least we haven't had the noise of the sequoia beetles, at least in our part of Minnesota. Have a great week!!

Hi Tre. I left the hospital a week ago after a 3-week stay for pneumonia. I fell ill through my own fault. It turns out that at my age I have to have a lot of exercise and I spent most of my time on a couch. I was rescued from my predicament with invasive antibiotic treatment.I stayed at home for another week on antibiotics. Today I was on my first walk. You have no idea how weakened I am after this treatment, but full of hope that it will get better every day. Lots of health for you and the river.

Morels grow really well in areas that have quite a bit of woody ground litter like that appeared to have. In Eastern Oregon, we would always look for them in areas that had seen wildfires a year or two before and they'd come up in huge patches there!

Makes sense I suppose, usually if I look for dead elms, a logged area is basically acres of dead trees.

Terry, I think you'll be happy to learn that baby back ribs don't come from baby pigs. They're smaller and are cut from the back near the loin, whereas spare ribs are larger and are cut from the belly.

For breakfast, aromatic scrambled eggs with morels will be great. As a second breakfast or snack, you can serve morels in butter with the addition of fresh bread. Morels stewed with vegetables or meat are an idea for a delicious, filling homemade dinner. To prepare the dish, you will need a larger saucepan or a pot with a thicker bottom that heats up evenly (e.g. a stainless steel pot or an enamel pot).
@TRERUNSWILD6 ай бұрын
I like the stew idea. I think morels, wild rice and cranberries would be nice!

Hey Tré, fantastic opening with RD, Ltd playing keep papa away from his new rock game. The mushroom foraging expertise is very informative and entertaining. (And tasty!) Suggestion - would you think about doing some shorts here and there in your uploading schedule? (I know you’ve done some, would be cool to get them in between your longer form vlogs.) Cheers, bud.

And my mother and I were picking asparagus in the ground, as soon as their little bit appeared outside. Why do you and your daughter pick already grown and quite tall asparagus? They are edible too. I'm sorry that I'm asking so much today, but it's really new to me.
@TRERUNSWILD6 ай бұрын
Yes, the bigger the more you get. Plus it grows so fast sometimes you will miss it if you don't watch it everyday. You can pick it until it starts to fern out. I hope you are feeling better, I'm sure it is nice to at least be home in your own place.

You are supposed to cut the asparagus off at the ground and not break it off. I heard otherwise it will quit growing. When we go mushroom hunting, we would turn around and find more behind us.
@TRERUNSWILD6 ай бұрын
Must not be true because that is how I always cut it and that patch has lasted about 15 years so far. Comes back just fine.
@januszlewicki57836 ай бұрын
When you are wondering how to prepare morels, remember one very important thing - these mushrooms must not be eaten raw! Raw fruiting bodies and stems are toxic, and their consumption will end in at least acute abdominal pain. Therefore, it is mandatory to cook, stew or fry morels
