Wild Out West... Mustang Wild!

Alice and I starting the trip fresh and with a spring in our steps, exploring a different part of a different Herd Management Area- the Stinkingwater HMA in SE Oregon. We then traveled to our regular HMA the SS where we photo-document the mustangs out there. 1801 images registered on my phone screen and also some vid clips.
Trail weary and weather-beaten we came out of the range... much differently. Alice always beautiful and cheery... Me... lots of wind-knots, sunburns, and mosquito bites.
90/50 for the high/low temps the first two days and 80/40's for the temps the last two days. The fierce wind at night made us weary of the potential of wildfires from camp sights as we were in the wind trajectory from some a few miles away north of us. The last two nights the wind-chill made us shiver in our bedrolls and the last night ate dinner in the truck's cab.
On this first day we went through a severe thunderstorm with warnings issued and the computer radar also showed the specific cell we had to get through, with an echo-top of 47K feet, had a potential tornado signature- a meso-cyclone. We watched this monster develop from a relatively small cell to an impressive storm which grew and expanded quickly.
We spent the first part of the trip with well-known mustangs where we were able to photo-document more of the journeys, and on the last day we spent a wild day with mustangs unfamiliar with two-leggeds... we found a hidden basin with a colorful mecca of mustangs. One black stallion made us think of a Voodoo offspring, and he was running in Voodoo territory. He can be seen at the end of the video.

How far is this from where the Kiger bands roam? Wondering how the BLM keeps the paints from migrating north to cross with the Kigers?

The Kigers are about 30ish miles to the north of Steens. When discovered, some of the mustangs on Beaty's Butte were genetically tested and found to have similar markers to the Spanish horses brought here by the Spanish explorers hundreds of years ago, and those horses, called Kigers were moved to two areas of Oregon- Kiger HMA near Diamond, and also Riddle Mt HMA. Kiger HMA is geologically isolated from other mustangs to maintain that Spanish line.

There is nothing more pure and beautiful than horses galloping with their babies right on their heels🐴❤️. I'm horrified and disgusted at what America has done to them, mainly the BLM. Shame on the government of the US for allowing the brutal roundups. By the time we wake up, it will be too late 🙏🤬😢
