I know you feel Foghorn wasn't given many experiments but I feel McKimson gave him more variety than Chuck did with Pepe (Especially his awesome Egghead Jr. trilogy)

This cartoon holds a special place in my heart...as this is the cartoon that made me realize that the Looney Tunes cartoons aren't strictly meant for children. Hard to believe it's been 25 years since that happened. I still remember seeing it on Cartoon Network (though I do have earlier memories of seeing it on Nickelodeon, but I was eight at the time) and just not feeling the same again after that. It led me to all the stuff people do today online when it comes to watching or remembering old TV shows: armchair media analysis, arguing over trivia that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, and doing this in every comment section of Anthony's review videos (unlike most people, I do at least try to be composed and literate with my takes). The biggest proof of that is the Pepe Le Pew page on TVTropes (most of that was written by me back before they blocked my editing privileges for overdoing it. I mean, why would you allow editing if you don't want people to do it?). But, the journey to finding out the media you watched as a kid has dubious content isn't all bad. I enjoy this cartoon more at 14 and beyond than I did at eight and I've found like-minded people online, though most really point out the sketchy content in the more contemporary cartoons and live-action kids' shows, not so much the classic cartoons. And now for the most shocking part of all this: there's no Censorship Report for this cartoon. You'd think with its content that ABC would have torn this a new one (and I do believe that that may have happened, but without solid evidence or testimony, I can't confirm), but they most likely didn't. However, since I saw this a lot on cable TV (both Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network), I'm going to assume that ABC once aired it in the late 1980s into the 1990s, then traded it for a cartoon that wasn't so risqué (though it is very pretty, which just confirms my theory that the prettier a Pepe Le Pew cartoon is on the outside, the more sexually dubious it is on the inside. "The Cats Bah" is another example, and technicall, it is the next cartoon in the Pepe Le Pew filmography, but only if you're counting the cartoons directed by Chuck Jones [or anyone who worked under him, in the case of "Really Scent"]. If not, then the next Pepe cartoon after this is a Sylvester and Tweety cartoon called "Dog Pounded", which has Pepe in a brief cameo). The next five cartoons after this are: 1) Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2th Century: Chuck Jones's sci-fi space adventure spoof featuring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig (I know there's also "Rocket Squad", but this is more iconic). 2) Bully For Bugs: Another Chuck Jones cartoon. This one is Bugs Bunny versus a bull during a bullfighting match (and came to be because Eddie Selzer randomly told Chuck and Mike that he didn't want a bullfighting cartoon). 3) Plop Goes the Weasel: We're off the Chuck Jones train for a while and return to Robert McKimson with this Foghorn Leghorn cartoon where Foggy continues his feud with Barnyard Dawg by getting a hungry, chick-stealing weasel involved. 4) Cat-Tails For Two: And we have another Robert McKimson cartoon. This one is the debut of another character considered un-PC by today's standards: Speedy Gonzales, though a lot of people have argued that Speedy isn't a stereotype...at least not in the Friz Freleng or the much-loathed later cartoons where it's Speedy and Daffy, but here, he looks stereotypical, but only because the wide eyes and disheveled black hair look off-putting. 5) A Street Cat Named Sylvester: A Friz Freleng Sylvester and Tweety cartoon that plays out like 1947's "Tweetie Pie", only Granny doesn't know that Sylvester brought in Tweety and there's a running joke/subplot of Hector the dog having a broken leg and being fed disgusting medicine.

While Pepe is definitely not one of my favorite WB characters, this one does stand out in the series since it has some twists on the formula, in addition to some funny gags and beautiful animation.

You're probably the first person here to say that, despite not being a fan of Pepe Le Pew, that you do like "Wild Over You". Most people pick "For Scent-imental Reasons" as their "I don't care much for the Pepe cartoons, but I'll make an exception for this" short. And I get it, since For Scent-imental Reasons is an Oscar winner, is the first to actually get the running joke of the painted female cat being mistaken for a skunk right, and has been released on a lot of Warner Bros home media. This one was shown more on television than home media (at least in America; this did get released on European VHS) and only really became popular thanks to the Internet and the fact that the Pepe Le Pew Zee Best of Zee Best DVD has all 17 Pepe cartoons.

They also didn't see the three that ended with Pepe becoming the hunted and freaking out over it (For Scent-imental Reasons, Little Beau Pepe, and Really Scent) or the first one where it turns out he's married, is a father, and not French. But I got ten bucks that says they saw "The Cats Bah" (which, technically, is the next Pepe cartoon after this, but between this one and that one is a brief cameo on the Sylvester and Tweety cartoon, "Dog Pounded"), because I look at that ending with the chain and think, "Okay, maybe they do have a point". But I'm still not siding with them.

Anthony, You mention that you would be interested in owning a Chuck Jones limited edition, signed by Chuck. I have a friend who owns about 25 of them. He might be interested in selling you one. Just let me know how I could PM you, with his email address. He lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. -Dani Scott
