Imho since AP Malphite is so ulti-centric getting an early Awakened Soulstealer is more important for the team than higher personal damage with Infinity Orb.

I still prefer tank malph, but AP malph is no doubt scary

The problem I have with AP malph is that if he doesn't land the skill, he immediately becomes useless. I mean you can still poke with the first ability but what clinches it is for you to land the ult to decimate their carries, if you miss, you get compromised. I rarely do AP malph as a support/solo especially now when tanks are very strong and really hard to kill.

I go boots of mana + Morelo item for lowering heal (dono name now) and then i go resistaince vs the most fed enemy (or just use brain to see if they hard ad or ap) and continue tank. I hit not hard at all, but i survive for 3x Q after i ult in :) Also having in runes Mark of the weak and hexflash. Good video man

If they have tanks build Liandry's late game and poke with 1st ability until they're low enough to ult Also sudden Impact does way more damage than scorch judging by my stats after games Also I don't take ability haste rune and replace it with more damage like giant slayer or gathering storm Also if you want more burst damage for squishies you can build lich bane 4th item as well

I feel that with ap malphite u have to snowball or either they just oneshot you lategame, I'd put Awakened Soulstealer way way earlier than last item. Being able to one shot almost anyone in the field every 25-30 second is insane

I usually go early proto-belt to surprise the enemy especially in low elo. They know how huge the damage is but they ususlly underestimate the rage of the ultimate with protobelt.

Do a series of ADC using the new tank meta build. Hearsteel, Steraks, Titanic... its easier to stack Heartsteel and by 3rd item the damage will be huge and you will be insanely tanky, enemies will never expect it and hardly ever be able to adapt or deal with it
