In the realm of Yin and Yang, we discover Yin within Yang, and vice versa. Consequently, we observe both curvature within linearity and vice versa. Hence, it's not solely circular in nature!

Very illuminating and beautiful. Is H'sing I also circular? Because to my eye, unlike Tai Ch'i and Bagua, it looks much more linear.
@SnakeAndTurtleQigong Жыл бұрын
The way that we practice, it is circular. The dantian and other pivots all rotate as spheres. The forms, however, tend to cut across the circle.

Nice. But is this Tai Chi or is it bau gua? Or is it circles?

I think he’s saying it’s in all of them.

The simple answer is, Yes. It is all of those. These principles apply to all the high level internal systems.

i would love to see one of your better students in a sparring session with somebody from a combat martial style, like muay thai. far too many traditional styles show very little actual combat application.

I agree. Would be educational to watch. I offer this thought, that it is not a realistic comparison. Muay Thai, MMA, etc... are very hardened, very good conditioning. Skill to be respected. They are however most often applied as a sport. To see Master Xu’s principles applied or other high level internal Chinese systems, would exclude a typical “sparring” environment. Muay Thai, MMA, etc... go full power with follow through but are not trying to “life or death”. High level internal Chinese arts have tough conditioning exercises as well but the application of their fighting strategies is to attack like a tiger, etc... looking to destroy vital areas immediately. This level does not “spar” for sport but instead, practice two person drills testing for qualities. This is one major reason we see so many poor internal “fights” with the internal master getting run over. The way they practice their Taiji, etc... is empty of combat training. A life and death fight between hardened systems is going to be nothing like the outcomes of sparring. If the opportunity arose I would so want to watch it though.

@@Flatland_Heresy sparring can be done with light to full contact. i sparred with my teacher using moderate to heavy contact but not quite full contact after training for a few months. of course i was on the receiving end of most of the bruises but i did get him a time for two in the year that i sparred with him. we did limit contact to the face to smacks. after all, it wasn't "fight club". :P i've seen a lot of kung fu practitioners who show little actual combat/sparring ability. seems like the majority of chinese "masters" are just masters of staying fit, which i'm not against. it just seems like they want to think they have actual skill at fighting. i won't say all are that way but the ones i have seen challenged have shown little actual ability in defending themselves. the ones teaching "chi" abilities seem more like scammers than actual martial artists since chi just means breath and not some "force ability".
