The Wild River Recreation Area in Questa, New Mexico is just north of Taos. This is just an update about the area. The camping is all dry camping. The cost is $7 per night, but with the senior pass, it cost us only $3.50 per night.
The recreation area is where the Rio Grande River and maybe the Red River come together. Since we were there a year ago, the roads have been updated. An added bonus is that they have bike lanes now. The visitor center is open Thursday - Sunday from 10:00 until 3:00.
There is no dump station in the recreation area; however, some service stations in the area do have dump stations. Call before you go out of your way to be certain they still have free dump stations.

I’m about to buy a travel trailer for full-time rving. Found out about the New Mexico State Camping Pass that allows you to camp in the State Parks for free 14 days at a time at each park. The cost is $225 a year.

Is it harder to get gas pulling a trailer? Thinking about buying one.

Pulling a trailer makes it a bit more challenging. Sharon practiced for hours in empty parking lots just to learn how the trailer handles. We also try to go to large stations.
