Michael Parks' picture ought to be next to the word underrated in the dictionary. I have liked him in everything he's done. I was too young to fully remember his "Then Came Bronson" series in the late sixties, yet something about him must have made an impression because the first time I saw him in the indie film Niagara, Niagara, I instantly remembered who he was. Truly impressive. Thanks.

Well, you can buy the film Then Came Broson. Look in Amazon. Theres also a site dedicated just to the movie and you can get it there too, as well as the decal that he had on the bike. "Wild Seed" was a great find...Michael Parks was brilliant, as usual...His acting skills were superb, and the characters he played were, always, memorable...He, always, brought his various characters to life, but in an understated, yet, very profound way. In "Wild Seed", Michael's portrayal of "Fargo", and his striking looks, reminded me of James Dean...After seeing this movie, it's not hard to imagine him playing James Dean's character, "Cal", in "East of Eden", had James not been cast, in that role. Thanks for uploading this very special movie! Michael Parks and Celia Kaye's performances define the "rebel hero" and "good girl" archetypes portrayed in the films of James Dean. Fargo has internalized being a burden, a "bindle". This comes out at key points in the story symbolizing BOTH characters - wild seed - accidents of birth - resulting in Fargo's mother falling to her death while picking fruit for their survival - and threatening the "planned" family stability of Daffy's biological father. Quietly powerful!

What do you mean he never got a break? He starred in Fred Zinneman's "Theresa," a very good movie. He starred in "Kiss Me Deadly," a film noir classic. He was in other stuff, like the first "Hitchcock Presents" drama, the one where he murders that guy after his wife falsely accused the guy of rape. He might not have been a huge star like Brando or Bogart, but he did pretty good, he had some breaks. He was in "Something Wild" which gets high praise from people, so I'll have to watch it some day. Saw him when he was older in a Darren McGavin movie. Saw him in another film where he's older and works in a train station. He didn't keep his movie star looks like some stars do when they get old, Heston, Mitchum, Sean Connery, Paul Newman etc. Got sort of pudgy looking.
@francesfarmer7365 ай бұрын
@@billetem5868 Ralph Meeker didn’t play along with the Hollywood politics & their games, that’s why he wasn’t an A lister so he was more on the B lister scale, but an excellent actor, glad he made as many films as he could…I liked Ralph Meeker in that Alfred Hitchcock episode with Vera Miles too…..Also “Jeopardy” with Barbara Stanwyck 1953, I own “Something Wild” great movie with Carroll Baker and upcoming tv stars Doris Roberts & Jean Stapleton……
@billetem58685 ай бұрын
@francesfarmer736 I checked out Ralph Meeker's bio on Wikipedia. He certainly was in lots of good films and TV shows. Seemed like an A list actor in "Kiss Me Deadly," definitely seemed like a leading man right up there with your typical big time movie stars. Perhaps he didn't catch a break, in the sense that he deserved after Kiss Me Deadly a few more big time leading man roles while in his prime. But even most A list movie stars are shooting stars. The most one can hope for is shine brightly for a few years. Ralph Meeker in the 50s is sort of like Dana Andrews in the 40s, or sort of like Steve McQueen in the late 60s and early 70s, like Roy Scheider in the 70s. Very few actors can command the spotlight for decade after decade like Eastwood, the Duke, Bogart, Heston, Brando, Gregory Peck, Al Pacino, Michael Caine, Alec Guinness etc. I'm from Minneapolis, and he was born in Minneapolis, so there's that connection to further my interest in his career.

Grew up watching and loving him since he played Adam in the movie the Bible to His Then Came Bronson series when I had his posters all over my bedroom wall and listened to his LPs. Followed his career and enjoyed him into my 60s until he passed sadly passed away. He was wonderful.

I thought it was really good. Gritty, somewhat depressing, accurately seedy. Michael parks was always a good actor who never seemed to get a big break. this movie made today, with today's rotten actors and disgusting ways of filmmaking would be horrible. the girl was cute, too.

Parks is a better actor than Brando could ever be.

Wasn't he so so so good looking here, I love his facial structure, I know that's strange, but I love it.

They were both strong actors but you can tell that Parks never got bored with acting in his later years. After the 1960's, Brando turned into a blimp that accepted 10 million dollars a film just to dick around in make-up.

From this to Red State, the man has range as a actor.

the way she says Fargo is enough to bring any one to face the truth about themselves thank you so much for loading this redemptive movie Michael Parks and Celia Kaye are perfect embodiments of people damaged by abandonment and trying to survive in the brutality of American society i'm so glad i live in Australia where people treat each other with respect and consideration and where there is a functioning social security net that takes the desperation out of life unlike America which is truly a dog eat dog cut throat brutal and barbaric meat grinder

Cool Movie. Funny The Brando Dean References in the commentary. Brando's Father owned Pennebaker Inc which was Company who made this. He was an Executive Producer on film, and Albert Ruddy worked on all The James Bond Movies after this. Michael Parks was a Cool Cat!
