Anu and Lasya are two female snow leopards we have been tracking via GPS collars. Both cats recently had cubs, and for the first time ever, our field team was able to visit both den sites. This breakthrough in conservation was recorded on film, and we are thrilled to share it with you now!

I would just like to reiterate the thanks that the Snow Leopard Trust is deserved. The work they do is extraordinary and exemplary. Someday soon I hope to go to Mongolia on one of the Trust's missions so that I may do whatever I can to help.

Thank you all so much for leaving comments, and asking about the mother's reaction to the smell of humans is very important. After we went to the sites, we have been tracking the mom's locations via GPS and both have returned to their dens and are actively taking care of their cubs, so no worries there. :)

no problem. I'm passionate about snow leopard conservation and always like to give my opinion where I can! the better the information that's out there, the better for the cats and for the people who live in their area. I'm in Russia right now for snow leopard conservation volunteer work. very interesting! :)

How come she didn't jump out and attack you guys when she saw the camera over her? She just sat and watch, don't mother's normally go attacking anything that disturbs them especially when they have cubs? I'm confused but also Amazed

This is great news, but why would the researchers even dare to pick up the cubs, or disturb the mother? If they are that precious, please leave them alone, and observe from afar.

I feel these Leopard family should not be disturb by humans. More so, showing himself to the mother Leopard is a no no. Even if a humble visit to theses animals, common sense tells, leave them be since they are safe & sound in the den!!

I am really concern,,,They should wear glove to pick them up. Mama smells & may abundant cubs... Why so close? give too much stress to snow leopards. this video is about six yrs ago, just wondering do these cubs survive???

Your concern is duly noted but that is a a myth National Geographic is already stated that that does not have any play on what an animal or mother does to her young they do not leave it or kill it just because a human being touches the animal look at up on National Geographic and you will note that that is not in any danger if somebody touches it that is an old school mith that nobody has proven but they do have research on National Geographic and they have many people with knowledge that have training phds and doctorates that back up this fact and it is a fact you will not hurt the Young

Domestic cats will abandon their kittens if to much human contact happens with them, being wild animals it's even more so the case, they need to be left alone, as well as the fact you have poachers, they need a healthy fear of humans for their own safety, I trained my cats so they don't socialise with humans so they stay away from them so they don't get hurt by a cruel human being one day, it's the best way to be @@lexor521

They looked quite, kind of wish I could have one, but won't be as quite and possible to handle in a few months time, so I guess it's better to not have one and let them live in the free.

No its not this is the San Francisco Zoo or is it I don't know but the San Francisco Zoo has over 50 years and breeding programs with snow leopards they can pick them up just as long as the mother knows that they can trust the zookeeper and most of them always have been that's the information that I have get your information first before you say this cuz it's misleading people that don't know nothing
