I can't help it, the lettuce is like drinking water and I don't want to see it floating in my pond.. The other bunnies will likely try to kill or mate with it. It should be big enough by now not to get into the rabbit pin. And if it starts eating my tomato's I am going to have to put it on the other side of the fence. My mom's dog Charlotte would happily kill it and bring it to my door step so I will not be letting that dog in the backyard now. My intention is to keep it fearful of me.

Other bunny had cold legs and ears causing it to move funny. Baby bunnies usually do not come back from hypothermia, according to a comment from someone who claimed to have worked at an animal rescue shelter. I did get its body parts to warm up but it just did not want to eat and the next day, in my cage full of fluf it seemed cold again and was in a coma which lasted for about another 24 hours until it shutdown for good. Nights will no longer be that cold now so this one will be fine. All those green heart shaped leaves in my yard are a form of lettuce and even people can eat it so it will be fine

I rescued a baby bunny about 4 weeks old from my back yard. A predator had gotten to the nest. I gave it KMR kitten formula for a week, and then pellets, hay, and greens. It could only suck on the pellets, it was so little, but it was enough. My goal was to release it back into the wild, but a band of coyote moved into the preserve and killed all the rabbits. The first 3 months was very challenging. Wild rabbits are extremely highstrung and only 10% of babies survive. Fortunately, I had six parrots, one of which is an African Grey, so I was ready for the challenge. I also had a Florida room, so the baby had a quiet running space and a towel-lined box for a hutch. The parrots made the difference--the bunny was drawn to our smallest parrot and relaxed whenever he was around. We named the bunny 'Catcher' and she is now 3 years old. She is a happy, playful, rambunctious member of the household. She is litter-trained and knows her name; she will come when I call her. She also knows the words breakfast, salad, and cookie (rabbit cookie). The Florida room and the parrots made the difference in her survival. She needed a quiet place to sleep during the day, and the birds made her realize we were animal-friendly.

I live on 70 acres on a horse farm. I got a sure fire way to make the yotes move on. No one gets hurt but the message gets through. You can stop a band of yotes yipping and howling with just a LOUD whistle. Sometimes I have to grab my tiny boom stick just for the noise. Break up that party! Guaranteed method. Everybody happy.
@loribragg2947
@loribragg2947 Жыл бұрын
@@badeugenecops4741 I actually felt bad for the coyote. They were starving. Florida is being over-developed and the forests get smaller and smaller. They were so hungry they were howling and hunting during the day (a rare thing for a coyote). We bury our chicken bones to enrich the garden soil for vegetables, and one of them dug up the chicken bones and ate them. I did the only thing I could--I put out squirrel feeders to increase the squirrel population, in an effort to restore some kind of balance. It worked apparently--the coyote stopped howling and hunting during the day (a desperation move). One morning I counted 11 squirrels in my front yard! A week ago, for the first time in two years, we saw wild rabbits in the yard. Something, considering I live on a preserve. The coyote are still here, but now I only hear them occasionally at night. So, increasing the squirrel population really did restore some balance. In a perfect world, there would be no predators, only forest buddies. But for now, predators are as necessary as prey. In Australia, the government poisoned thousands of feral cats. Now they are overrun with mice! Nature has a very delicate balance. Too much deforestation ruins that balance.

@@camez2345 the simple here is the eco system needed more food balance, if a place gets to much food for say squirls critters that eat em will come, slowly balancing things and thoes maybe food for coyotes. aka by intentionally making the competition for food by pray spices less problematic it has made food more abundant in other places ie more pray spices then to end it the yotes no longer need to day hunt.

This is a bit long but plz read. My SIL has 2 beautiful dachshunds. Well, there is a lovely white Cottontail Rabbit who lives in the back yard. Unbelievably so,, the dachshunds play w/the cottontail & they all have a blast together for 2 years. One day a Jack Rabbit came up to the cottontail & decided its gonna kill the cottontail ( jacks kill & eat rabbits including their own). Just as the Jack is gonna go in for the killl Wild Willy sensed it & lept like a dear as he screamed & took the jack by it's neck & shook it like a ragdoll, the jack let out a scream but only about 1/2 second long before it's neck was broke... Mr B immediately ran over to get in on it & was tearing its fur out . Just then, in another second, my husband heard it & woke up & flew out the door & screamed "DROP IT NOW" which they immediately did & they both ran up against the house & cowered as tho they did something wrong. They didn't.! They were very obiedient to my husband. My hysband got some wet towels to wipe their mouths & luckily they didn't break the Jack's skin, no blood. He talked very nicely to them & gave them a treat for saving their cottontail friend. Mrs Cottontail surely.knows they saved her life & the next wk she brought out her baby to show them & the boys were tickled to pieces. & were winning. It's been about 5 months now & they & the baby R all still friends & it's so darn special to see them all out there playing together ❤️ taking turns chasing ea other around, changing who's tag. Mrs rabbit won't let the boys get closer than 3' to her as always (& this is before she had her baby). The baby knows its a fun game & she plays too. Dachshunds were bred to hunt & kill rabbits & badgers in Germany as Germany was literally taken over by rabbits. They are hounds but, luckily, Wild Willy & Mr B have the sense to not kill Mrs Rabbit & now her baby. WOW.!! If you could only see the fun they all have together ❤️ I know it would bring U to tears. Its not true that once a dog gets the taste of blood in its mouth it will always want to kill. In this case, the boys didnt break the Jack's skin, but they know not to harm just any animal. They're pretty smart dogs & iI don't say that Bcuz I know them. They R smarter than their owners & its the truth about dachshunds but about many animals. I would like to know about Ur touching story about Ur pet & I know there are many many out there so plz share & thank U very much. God Bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️ His animals 🙏 & God Bless U 🙌 💖 🙏 ❤️

He didn't dare let his mom know about this Bcuz she thinks a dog is not good anymore once it gets the taste of blood of an animal ( not intl this case) or if it gets in a fight w/another animal it's still no good.. HA , no mum not true 😊

Thank you for leaving this young one alone! That was absolutely the right thing to do! Some information for you and everyone else: Bunnies will start exploring and leaving the nest as young as 1 week and even though they look tiny and helpless, they’re just fine! As long as they aren’t injured you should leave them alone. Their mother is still caring for them at this period of their life but they will start wandering more and more and she will start visiting the nest less and less. At night they all return to the nest and huddle up with their siblings to keep warm, until they become old enough that they can go off on their own. One of the biggest threats to baby bunnies is accidental kidnapping from people. As long as it isn’t injured and it’s eyes are open, you’re only doing it harm by taking it. It’s incredibly hard to rescue and care for a baby bunny and if you find one that is injured or has it’s eyes closed, you should call a wildlife rehabilitation center immediately. The chance of it surviving under the care of someone who isn’t a professional is sadly very slim. They’re one of the hardest critters to care for.

If you ever find another tiny bunny like the last one, see if you can find a wildlife rehabilitator in your area. They would be the best place for a lost baby bunny. Also, if you by chance find a baby bunny so young that it’s eyes are closed again, treating it much like you would a kitten of a similar age is a good practice until you can get the bunny to a rehabilitator. So, put the bunny in a box with a heating pad and towels, and if it’s going to be a while, feed it kitten milk replacement (KMR). But a proper wildlife rehabber is always the best place for a wild animal that needs help.

Yall really need to relax, it was perfectly fine leaving the bunny. Clearly they weren't in danger and old enough to live on their own as evident of in running and roaming around without the need of the return of its mother. If it was so bad for him not to catch the thing and take it to a rehabilitation center, chances are they would of just released it anyway. This is a wild bunny, it's exactly doing what every single other wild bunny is doing, nothing is wrong enough to put in effort for the little guy and put it in so much stress from a giant monster towering over and deciding to grip you with no chance to chance to escape back to safety away from them to what they're used to and comfortable with

@@joshuacottenham9149 I was referring to a different bunny he found (hence me saying “like the last one”) that was much smaller than this one and still had its eyes mostly closed. Also, this tiny one her found was lethargic, and didn’t put up and kind of fight when he picked it up. I don’t know how it got away from its mother, but it was too young to be away from her. I was just pointing out that obviously wild rabbits enjoy this area, so if he (or anyone) finds a bunny that young ever again, the best thing to do is to get it warm and then try to find a wildlife rehabber, especially one that specializes in small mammals like rodents, opossums, raccoons, and rabbits.

Be careful putting wild babies in with your bunnies. I know you had good intentions, I did too once, before I realized that bunnies aren’t going to rationalize like we do, and they can be territorial, and one of the male bunnies went up to it, smelled it, and I was watching it while thinking, “Yeah, you’re gonna know it’s probably not your baby, but it’s still a baby and needs protection so maybe let Mamma nurse it as one of her own?” and it sniffed it some more, working it’s way from the baby’s butt toward its head, and once it got to the back of the baby’s head, it bit down on the baby’s neck and severed its spine, instantly killing it. I was horrified. I didn’t have a chance to save it. I couldn’t correct the mistake, it was just gone in an instant, and I had to deal with the guilt of that for a long time. I then got angry at my lack of critical thinking, when I knew I should have known better. So, please don’t make the same mistake I did.

My cat was orphaned at about 2-3 weeks old. She is aggressive to any cat, kitten, dog, puppy,raccoon, possum, snake etc. However she plays with rabbits very well.😊 She has never been aggressive to one. And once brought a baby rabbit that almost died of starvation. Replacer milk and vitamins perked it up in a little less than a week. Munchie, slept with it and groomed it too. I have a cat door and let my cat go outside whenever she wants. The bunny could too. After 2 months the bunny left. But occasionally comes back for water a snack and some cat and rabbit Zoomies. Then disappears for a month or two.😊

@@jstewart627 ok. Get some canned goats milk. That's the alternative, for kittens, puppies, mammals basically, and cheaper than kitten formula sold in pet shops. When he starts taking solids, you can begin to reduce the milk feedings. Feed him every 3 hours during the day. 1-2 x at night. Dilute the goats milk with water by half. Try starting with two oz. Adjust to his needs of increase or less. You can use rabbit pellets for litter too, or just need paper or a towel. You'll need to keep him indoors while it's cold. Place him somewhere warm, inside. Till he's a bit older and eats solids solely. Make him a warm nest out of anything you're willing to let him use for bundling. Most pet shops carry kitten nursing bottles. Or you can search your area to see if they carry any. Amazon will have them tho.

“Ah, a snail” said in the most monotone way, just set me off!!😂 Also well done, 99% of the time one should leave a wild animal to be! If anyone else does find an injured bunny or animal call the appropriate number in your area, look up injured wild animal, it’s a very easy find, and depends on your country, state, province etc…

Lettuce is not rabbit food. If he ate all that - he died. Lettuce is a TREAT. Rabbits need much more fiber than that. If they don't get fiber from REAL rabbit food, aka GRASS and flowers - their guts twist, and they die. #1 way to kill a rabbit. Feed it lettuce...

Wild bunny’s can be fed by syringe. There is a wild bunny milk recipe online the best I can remember is puppy replacement, milk, goats milk, with a tablespoon of half-and-half heavy cream. they need the fats. My cat dug up a nest the mother did not return. Their eyes were still closed. I only fed them 2 times a day mornings and before bed. The mother only feeds 1’s a day. Her milk is loaded with fats. They made it. After 4 to 6 week of eyes being opened. I set them free in the woods close to my Neighborhood.

Thinking about stuff is normal. Sitting in a classroom all day waiting for an overworked teacher in grade school to help explain a worksheet is not stimulating and dulls our thoughts. And sometimes a kid can go all day getting nothing done when that teacher is too busy or does not care.
