I had a pet rabbit (a “meat” rabbit I got from a farm) he followed me everywhere, would nip me only when I stopped petting him. (Bossy) he played out in the yard all day everyday (no fence) with my dog and six cats. I would call him in in eve by clicking my tongue and he’d come running inside house into his hut. He wandered into neighbors yard and they took him as their pet. They had very young children who grew to love him, and by the time I found out who had him, I was glad he hadn’t fallen prey to a hawk or fox.. and just let the young children keep the rabbit. It was a great pet.

that's adorable, I had a bunny and he was exactly like that! his name was bluey and he was the sweetest thing ever, he play with my cat and dog and it was hilarious, he often went over to the neighbours but would always come back, he ate candy off the floor and some how survived. he was very chill and loved everyone. he passed away two day after my birthday.

We once let our rabbit out outside on a leash in the big garden behind this apartment. One son held the leash. Other son started to bark. Rabbit ran off into the bushes and he couldn't keep the leash. Then he ran around so fast. We couldn't get as fast. Horrible. I thought we'd never see him back. And then he just sat down. I won. And my other son could pixk him up. I read on internet that he just wanted to show off how fast he was. That was the first and last time we took him out.

Sometimes bunnies will play like that, they will steal something and run off with it. :) but you will need to "chase" them in the most non-threatening way ever. Pay close attention to the chasing you back though, that can very often be a sign of aggression and that your bun is telling you to bugger off :) clear signs are flat ears, a charge, grunt and or a raised tail. Other than that, they love to steal things for the fun of it :)

I personally think that mostly all of these are true except the being rouched on their back part, my rabbit loves when i pet her back, and she teally enjoys it and shows no sign of feeling uncomfortable! Of course i am not any animal expert, but i know that most rabbits do like beibg touched and patted on their back, because they feel cozy that way and my bunny even fell asleep once as i was doing that! So i don't know about any other rabbits, but I've had an experience with living with 3 rabbits and every single one of them loves to be patted on their back and cuddles there too!

While the note of rabbits' preference being in pairs is generally true, they are fiercely hierarchal and territorial. I had two bunnies, bonded brothers, but when one of them lost his eyesight (the dominate) the other attacked him to gain dominance. Bunnies fight to the death. It's important if you're bringing another rabbit into a single rabbit home to work to bond them, and to closely monitor them, especially if they're young and two males. As with any animal, getting another as a "companion" because they are a social species carries a huge caveat. You have to work hard to bond them. Would you rather be alone or trapped with your worst enemy?

i got my bunny back in september. prior to that i did 2-3 months of research to make sure i got the right type of cage for him (we live in a flat so he is an indoor bunny, however we do have a balcony and he plays out their when its warm enough), and made sure i knew everything i needed to know. he is honestly the happiest little rabbit ive ever met. i do have a cat but they get on really really well. we got thumper when he was 11 weeks old and straight away slowly introduced him to my cat. my cat is a very laid back cat anyway, she sleeps most of the day so she doesnt really bother him. when doing my research i found if either of them were going to attack the other it would more likely be Thumper because he’s defending his territory. we have never had any problems with him hes very chilled, loves to sleep on top of his little house thats in his cage, he loves strawberries, he loves tickles on his head and behind his ears and he loves running around when we let him out his cage. he’s completely litter trained and im so proud of him. i had a lot of worry and doubt about getting a rabbit because of all the kind of problems in this video but theyre surprisingly easy to deal with/avoid. or if you have a rabbit from a young age it isnt difficult to help them get used to these kind of things. they are extremely smart animals. my rabbit knows his name, he comes to me when i call him and he follows me everywhere. it was his first christmas this year and he got absolutely spoiled with all his favourite treats. ive decided that with the cardboard boxes left over from christmas that im going to build him a house to play in when he isnt in his cage. this video helped to make me aware of things before getting my rabbit. please keep all of these things in mind if youre planning on getting a rabbit💗🐰xo (sorry for the long story) x

Reading this definitely helped me relax a bit over getting a rabbit. Graduating college and wanting to move out into an apartment, on top of dealing with a lot of emotional things from last year, made me want a pet and a rabbit at that since it has the lifespan I want while being the size I’d prefer and quieter than a dog or cat but also something to interact with. I did research and wrote extensive notes, felt confident but watching some videos and seeing everyone say “rabbits are very difficult to have as pets” reeeeeaaally knocks that confidence down a notch. I know they’re not super low maintenance animals but reading your experiences with your rabbit helped me.

Some rabbits can enjoy it but if your bunny is facing backwards and doesn't know you're there then you suddenly touch it behind or pull their tail they'll be frightened. While if they know you're there and you start the stroking from the head or let them see your had getting closer to them first then they'll expect it and be more/completely comfortable.

It always upsets me how misinformed people are when it comes to rabbits. I wish they would do research before hand. Rabbits are not easy pets and once people realize this they’re often abandoned, left outside and neglected. Do your research before getting ANY pet. As an owner you’re the one they look to for food, shelter, and comfort . Remember these animals are domesticated and can’t live in the wild so you have to be diligent and give them the best life

When my sister and I were very young our parents got us a bunny. I do remember the bunny house in the backyard was big. Other than that after watching this video my heart breaks for what that bunny must have gone thru. Our parents were clueless of how to take care of a bunny and never taught us anything about it either. Parents don't just give your kids an animal because you think it's cute or low maintenance to take care of. Do your research!!!

Her father i am separated from bought her one, just to make me upset. Promised he would cover all costs as i could not afford to. I think the love lasted maybe a month. He started marking and was supposed to get fixed. Her father refused. So no more bunny to cuddle on the bed. Now hes my rabbit. She cant even remember to see if he had food and water. I now lay on the floor with him for and hour or 2 a day and snuggle. but he always leaves a huge mess beside me. Poops everywhere and sometimes pees on me. Love him to bits but im so tired of the messes.

I like almost everything about this video. It’s cute and clear. The only comment I have is that rabbits bed as pets really shouldn’t be outside in a dog house or hutch. There’s no reason to risk their health and lives. An inside environment can be very enriched and they certainly don’t need to go for a walk or a run outside. Also after a couple of decades of rescued bourse rabbits, the petting issue (only pet head) isn’t quite true. Individuals like different things and it’s good to try different petting after you’ve bonded. I have one that turns her back to me to be rubbed: she prefers it to the head. Another stretches out full length so I can groom his butt. Most of mine have enjoyed to the point of purring until they fall asleep, a little light reverse fur petting. So take time to learn your bunny.

Its a good list. Its not necessarily true though that they are afraid of dogs. Our rescue rabbit Crazy Alice isnt bothered by the house dogs at all... in fact she would bow up on the Jack Russell back when he was still with us, and chase him away if he happened to get near. Total "Stand Your Ground". And we have a much larger dog that is mostly Pit Bull, another rescue, who is fascinated by her and follows her around everywhere watching her and just staring. She moves around him, through his legs, rubs up against him, no problem.

This is a very accurate video! Though I as a rabbit owner can say that after years of living with your bunny, it starts to trust you if you give it the chance to, and will be fine with you petting its back, vacuuming, picking it up once in a while etc. Nowadays my bunny stretches out her back legs and relaxes completely when I pet her back/bum, but she hated it when I first got her. Trust, respect and patience is everything with a bunny!

Also, never hold a bunny on their back with their stomach facing you. This looks very cute. You are right. It isn't a good idea to let a dog "play" with rabbits. But I would like to share a personal story. I had two rabbits and then I got a dog. When they met each other I was attentive and worried. But they became friends. My rabbits were the leaders of the pack. My dog was so calm and gingerly. When the rabbits liked to sleep at her place she went away. One of the rabbits liked her alot and cuddled with my dog. They were not afraid, they lived peacefully together. This became a problem later. One dog wanted to bite them, when they chilled outside. But they didn't realize the danger. One of them came to the fence to say hello. So he lost a little bit of his hair. Fortunately this was all the dog got between his teeth. The rabbits lernen to keep away from strange dogs. But I was shocked.

Great video. Buns also hate the smell of fish. Rub some fish oil on wires and cords to reduce chewing on them

I have my maltipoo(Benjamin), got a bunny (Bubbles) and at first he kept wanting to play with her but quickly lost interest. Once they were comfortable, I bought another bunny(Billion) to give Bubbled company.. he is a handful ! Hahaha has quite the mischievous personality, but he’s fun! He bites Benjamin sometimes and he barks then Billion steps away. I let my bunnies roam freely around the house (they have safe places to hide and toys etc) my 3 pets do amazing together, it’s quite impressive. I can run errands and leave them together, when I get back they’re all taking a nap it’s so cute !! I got lucky , because it would have been difficult if they didn’t get along with my dog or were afraid of him.

It's good to remember every animal has it's own personality and generic species advice does not apply to all individuals. My rabbit for instance, loves to have her butt rubbed. sure not as much as she loves having her face smooshed but still.

My bunny hates car rides , she makes this certain face , shaking an also it took her a month or couple for her to get use to me and the dog, if my moms dog wants to play with her and she doesn’t wanna play she turns and grunts at him while thumping her feet , he thens looks at me and i make a face letting him know that she doesn’t wanna play he would just walk away sad . She loves peoples 💜

Honest question. I live in Florida where it's 90-100 in the summer (and incredibly humid) if 85 is dangerous, how are they able to survive here?

Very good summary. All children should be taught this regardless of whether they have a rabbit pet or not (because they may encounter rabbits in other contexts including homes of friends).

I got a whiff of that on an industrial scale. This frozen brown stuff was on a pallet at work. Took a sniff and nearly died, was frozen ammonia, took my breath away for atleast 15 minutes

I wish I still had my rabbit. I had to give her away when I moved. My observations about rabbits were formed by my time with just this one rabbit so I don’t know how broadly they apply. But I would say that a rabbit is capable of developing complex and multidimensional relationships with people and, certainly also, with other rabbits. They are so able if far more interesting relationships than might be expected. She attacked me and bit me hard when I tried to get her used to being held, by simultaneously offering a carrot. She loved carrots and hated being held - thus she thought I was taunting her. But she was also affectionate and loved being rubbed on her head, and would come to me for it. She had “her space”. Rabbits are amazing.
