I have taken may "good"( if I say so myself) photos of flowers, with the promise that I am going to make watercolor paintings of them to make greeting cards. I have been saying this for at least ten years now. Your tutorials have renewed my promise and I am going to sit down tomorrow to start. I have wet down my watercolor palette tonight and am getting set. Thanks!

Love your tutorials. I am a w/c artist that I am returning to after retiring frrom a full time job as a library asst for 25 years. I have done sketching over those years but now am back to my w/c passion. I have some displays scheduled in public areas which I am grateful for. Just want to tell you that your videos are so much fun and helping me not be afraid to get back into my art.Thank you so much!!

Lovely job. They look just like the ones I dug up to transplant in my mother's yard. Her favorite flower. She never really cared for African violets. She often said those transplants were the best gift I ever gave her. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.

I had to laugh when I saw the comment under mine about the Frugal binge on sleepless nights. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I also love the pen/watercolor combination. I've been painting along with your tutorials for a few weeks now (so glad I found you!), and, well, I tried. Suddenly tonight, following along with this tutorial, something happened, and it seemed like watercolor painting finally just clicked for me. This probably won't be the case when I try again tomorrow, but it was the encouragement I needed to keep trying! Your videos are so much fun to watch, and they keep me inspired and laughing. Thank you so much for all your hard work!

What you said about practicing by making an actual painting instead of focusing on one thing is actully how I've always learned best. I need something to drive me to learn, a reason instead of just drawing a circle 100x till it's perfect. But so many pro. artists have said to first focus on getting good if not perfect at those single elements before doing a painting. For years that has bothered me and made me nervous whenever I wanted to make art, because "you don't know how to do this and that so don't even try, practice first". Made me feel I had to learn everything, become all knowing and that's intimidating (and yeah, I know, might be exagerated by my own mind also). But this is the first time I hear someone say it's okay to do it this way :) Thank you Lindsay!

LOL! I actually had this speeded up to 1.25 instead of "normal speed". Talk about perkier than usual :D Good job on the violets; I went outside and picked one out of my garden to use as a model. What I enjoy most about your tutorials is that you explain color mixing and techniques which I then use to paint watercolors that aren't copies of your work. You help me get inspired when I feel blocked. Thank-you!

Beautiful project, Lindsay! Good instruction and coaching. Wild violets sing peace to the child in us, don't they? I'm learning - by your example - to let the paint and pens talk me down to a more relaxed working spirit, and I'm grateful to you. You have such a beautiful gift of acknowledging the mix of trials and blessings that is life. I have a feeling you talk to yourself best when you have the camera eye listening, much like writers write to learn what they think. Sometimes it seems your artistic talent (not to belittle it in the least!) is a modality of the therapy of joy you offer! Keep up the good work! God's speed - not aspartame's! BTW I would really like to know what you learned from going off Equal, if you have the time. Thanks. This is for you: "Frugally motivated, abundantly blessed."

I LOVE this pen & ink! Don't know how I missed it. I'm on a Frugal binge on yet another sleepless night. How cool it is that your daughters come straight down to see mom after school!! I so wish I'd had that kind of relationship with my mom. Sorry, just thought that was so sweet. I love those microns. use them tangling, but usually only use the .01 or .1? And man you are so fortunate to have the ability to draw anything! You make it seem so effortless. I know you must've worked hard for the skill, but still! Ha! I'm a poet and … hahahaha :-) Thanks for this tutorial. Looking forward to going through more.

Love it! We used to live in another town and our back yard was full of violets. About the time the grass got tall enough to need it's first mowing they were finished blooming and we just mowed them off. I wish they sold seeds for them, out back yard now could use some.

I want to start by saying that I love your channel and your watercolor tutorials. I'm just starting out with watercolor and really enjoy it. You scare me sometimes. The amount of pigment you slap on there. Keeps me on the edge of my seat like "WHOA! That's a LOT of paint!" but it always ends up looking great. You're giving me confidence in experimenting more with my painting. :) THANK you for these videos.

Hi Lindsey. am enjoying your tutorials as always, but just wanted to tell you about one of my techniques. I was in the middle of painting a flower and wanted to try your trick with the cut up credit card, but I had left the credit card (that I nearly threw away, but remembered at the last minute your technique, so I kept it and cut it up in the kitchen ready to use later) in the kitchen and could not be bothered moving every thing off my lap, where I'd settled down to paint I remembered my feather. like you i have chickens.one day i needed a thin something that would give the thinnest. hair line possible. I pulled all the feathers off the shaft and the thinnest end was perfect. but it also comes in useful for the scratching at its thickest end, so I used that instead often card and it worked fine. now I have both the shaft of the feather and the card in my art collection. :)
