@Apanblod3 жыл бұрын
@@eskanda3434 They should have milked the "vanilla" Genesis for all it was worth (which I assume the intent was by releasing the add-ons). There still would have been a substantial need for 'budget' gaming, even after the release of the next generation consoles. They could have waited instead of rushing into the 32 bit era (which they probably felt pressured to do) and the Saturn and Dreamcast could really have been one machine. However, while I'm sad that SEGA failed on so many levels and is mostly out of the game, the Dreamcast is by far my favourite console of the ones I've owned, and who knows what we would have gotten if those mistakes weren't made, perhaps they would have made things even worse, it's impossible to tell.
@supersexysega3 жыл бұрын
@@Apanblod Budget gaming would have been the vanilla Genesis. Milking the Gensis wouldn't be done by crippling its image with medicore add-on that just take software away from the Genesis install base and advertising money shifted toward add-on not Genesis software.
@Apanblod3 жыл бұрын
@@supersexysega No exactly, they should have skipped the add-ons and let the original Genesis have its organic life span. I meant that the add-ons were most likely an attempt to keep up with the development of the time in an effort to always stay close to the "you can't do this on x" marketing strategy. In hindsight this was disastruous, of course, as was the rushing of the Saturn.

Eh. Agree to disagree. Wild Woody is actually the only SEGA CD game I own aside from Earthworm Jim: Special Edition. Yes, the hit detection is biased as shit, but it’s something I grew to accept as I played it. The animations (aside from the primitive cutscenes) are appealing and one thing we can all agree on: The Soundtrack is TIGHT!! But hey. I understand the game isn’t for everyone. This is the type of game you just have to accept both for what it offers and what could have been... Also, I know the guy who voiced Woody on Twitter. He’s a nice dude!

I don't know man...the Sega CD did okay here in the states. There were a few titles at the end by Core Designs that seemed to garner great press. BC Racers and Soulstar come to mind as end of the road Sega CD titles that really pushed the hardware while being well received. It's unfortunate the devs producing games for the Sega CD didn't push the hardware as often as they should.

The Sega CD has some good games. I’ve made entire videos about it, but it sold 2.24 million units worldwide in 4 years. It was a financial disaster.
@Sinn01003 жыл бұрын
@@SegaLordX The thing is, you have to consider a few things first before calling it a total failure. The Sega CD was an add-on that was relatively expensive for its time. The gaming industry was a very different beast during the Sega CD's lifespan (1992-1995). One could sell 100,000 games and be considered a hit. While Sega didn't make much on the unit itself they did make their investment back from licensing fees as these companies often do. Sega's truly big failure was the 32X...that should have never happened. Sega would have likely been okay had they simply stuck with the Sega CD and Genesis until the Saturn hit at least for the 4th generation. Addendum- Sega Lord X, I have been a faithful viewer of your channel for a very longtime. I may disagree with you on certain things (like the Sega CD) but I mean no disrespect. Like you, I grew up during the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations of gaming. Also like you, I had it all and I played everything I could get my hands on. The only console that eluded me for a good many years was the Neo Geo AES, I wound up getting one in 2008. Even though I had every machine released I still always came back to Sega's hardware. I mean, I was the guy with a Jaguar, Doom, AVP, and Wolfenstein 3d in 1994 and I couldn't stop playing Virtua Racing on the Genesis. I would use my Sega CD to play the Doom soundtrack while I played it on the Jaguar...in 1994, that was living. At any rate, great video man.
