Perry at Wilderness Innovation makes great stuff. I. Have the Osni cloak, blanket and a couple of ponchos. They are great multipurpose gear. Thanks for reviewing them.

I made one of my own, pretty much just like these, with licensed poly backed DWR treated multicam ripstop, Climasheild, and a thinner weight and soft inner. I’ve never liked sleeping bags, sleep really hot, and it’s absolutely perfect for anything above freezing for me. I probably have less than $100 in mine total (can’t remember exactly, as it was several years ago when I made it). The only problem I had was working with the thin layer and it wanting to walk around on me, but that can easily be solved with pins or tape.

I've been eyeing the survival shelter for a couple of years, just so little 3rd party information and reviews. Sounds like a good idea, just wondering how comfortable the hammock could be for an overnight sleep.
@AquaTech225 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like me. I eyed it for the longest time. Couldn’t find much but his own videos. But pulled the trigger once. Now have all the osni gear multiple ponchos an a number of other things. Somewhere above the $2k mark in gear. As far as the sleep. I actually slept better in the hammock poncho than I did with my warbonnet an superior actual hammocks. An ditched off my typical hammock gear.

Mate on such a practical information filled video as this one is there's no need to apologise for your videos being too long as they're worth every minute of their screening. Unfortunately due to Amazon's eye watering mailing costs and Govt import taxes and VAT on all the products into Australia that you've demonstrated in this video, landed costs are mostly well outside our ability to justly purchase. However mate don't worry all is highly appreciated, your video contained so much information that can be adapted to other products it truly is a cornucopia of smaller DYI projects i.e how you exactly spaced the knots making your hammock tree straps. i feel you have epitomised the true meaning of You Tube, and that is the international unselfish sharing of practical information. 10 out of 10 old mate, please keep up the cracking good work.👍👍👍👍💯

Thank You Very Much! The point you made concerning shipping costs is very valid! It makes no sense how or why shipping from someplace on the globe is more expensive than another place at the same or greater distance! It's maddening! I really appreciate your support! Cheers!

I have an idea for ya on your camos you have dyed. You might take another shirt or pants you also dyed and cut out pieces of fabric, glue or sew those pieces to the rough side velcro strips to affix to your wearable uniform to cover up the brown dyed shoulder velcro and name plackard areas. Just thought of this watching your video. Take care Buddy, great videos. Thanks Man!!!!

I want a Swagman Roll or one is these, but man they're pricey. I got my entire Modular Sleep System for cheaper. Eventually I'll rip the bandaid off and get a couple, they are really useful after all. An unissued woobie is 35 to 50 bucks depending on where you look, might have to try that first and see if it's right for my set up.

I am looking for a synthetic top quilt and underquilt; and the synthetic insulation is much better for the area that I live in. I also like that they come in ATACS-IX camo!!!

I caught what you said in the video with your Grand monkeys about the osney oh, I'm sure that's not how it's spelled but that's just how my phone spelled it but you get the idea. I found the website and I spent an hour on that website checking it all out. If I'm not wrong I'm pretty sure you could use that poncho liner as a hammock all by itself at least that's what I seem to remember in one of the videos that man had but yeah I wish I'd had the money then I would have really went and bought one. You mentioned that the Poncho liners for the military the old ones don't have the snaps and you're right but they do have the strings that you can tie onto the poncho but they don't have the opening for the head. I took that combination plus a wool blanket and a canvas tarp as a Sleep System the only thing that's missing is a pad to sleep on because I can't hardly sleep on the ground anymore. I mean I would if I had to but these old bones don't take to the ground the way they used to. I used to carry nothing but a wool blanket and that's what I used to sleep on on the ground until I found, you remember those little bitty nylon fold-up roll up hammocks you could get that would fit in the palm of your hand, little hammock and then I went from the ground up to a hammock and nothing but a wool blanket. Now as I've gotten older it takes a little bit more to keep me warm in that hammock. Let me tell you a little story about a hammock. We were in Georgia staying at my friend's house but my grandson and I were sleeping outside in the hammocks. I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night so I got up no problem but when I was trying to get back in the hammock I missed the whole hammock and fell over into the mosquito net, upside down. My grandson sleeps very heavy and I couldn't get him awake I thought I was never going to get out of that thing but I finally did. That would have been hilarious on film LOL. Well I'm sorry I made this so long but yeah those things are great and I really like to get me one but I have enough camping stuff, tents and sleeping material and all that other stuff I just need to work on a few other items other than camping. I probably got enough stuff for 4 or 5 people to camp and not bring anything but their clothes. Anyway thanks for the video I hope these people check it out because those are great things to have, actually they would be great for a first-timer that way they would have a multi-use poncho. Thanks again have a great day and don't forget to stay vigilant!

Hello Brother John. I have a question. What was the siren in the background signaling? I see you working awfully hard to get out videos. Please don't burn yourself out. If you need to take a brief breather, then do it.. Just saying. David

The siren is from a local powder plant, they signal when detonating.

How long was your wait time through Wilderness Innovations? They don't do a very good job of keeping their customers up to date... ordered an Osni over three months ago.

According to the owner my situation was an extreme one due to one of their sewing companies declaring bankruptcy. My order took about six months to arrive.

I think you need to do an update on the Wilderness Innovations video. After seeing your video on the gear I spent $500 plus on a poncho and a osni it’s been over 6 months and I still haven’t received my order. I am not the only one many others are experiencing the same thing. See below link: www.reddit.com/r/outdoorgear/comments/1bgco6b/wilderness_innovation/ Please alert your subscribers so that they do not get scammed as well!

I’ve had Wilderness Innovation for over a decade. Why the rest of the Bushcraft community does not know about it? I think because they copy everyone else. It took them a decade to switch from a Bahco to a Silky.

@@boonedockery7220 I really do hope the Bushcraft community catches on. I own 4 sets of the poncho/Osni ( pronounced Oh-snee). Only one I don’t own is the HD. No need for that beast! I do own the UL HD, and that is pretty damn tuff & light. He does have an UL kit, three pieces. I’m getting that next. Comes with plastic snaps to shave even more weight. I think his items are the best, but kinda heavy and bulky to be carried in on your back. That is why I’m going to try his UL kit. He has made a LOT of innovations, but he now only Carrie’s a fraction of what he once had.

Spent probably $2,000ish with wilderness innovation. From their Ultra200 down to the lightest weight poncho. Few ponchos, the osni items,bug net, tarp, ground sheet an pools an a number of other things. Actually have ditched my standard hammock gear. Actually lay an sleep better in the poncho as the hammock than I did in a hammock only.
