Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s kzbin.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

Kyle, I got a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) several years ago in case I'm ever injured or stranded out in the boondocks. It transmits to military search and rescue satellites and will get a signal out through adverse conditions where the personal satellite messenger units (like Inreach or Spot) which use satellite telephone frequencies can fail. If you don't have one it's something you (or Santa Claus) might want to consider. A PLB costs more than a Spot or Inreach but there is no subscription to pay for. I have both a PLB and Inreach but if I had to choose one I'd take the PLB. Thanks for the video Kyle !

I've made numerous comments on people's channels regarding leaving their cabins without "prepping" the firewood supply inside for the next visit. You are one of the FEW smart people that does this. Can't see being cold any longer than absolutely necessary. This is not rocket science, but then again it may be for some.

I swear Kyle is like a reincarnated man from the early 1900s. Nobody in their 20s builds cabins like this! Very impressed I’m in my early 30s and built one cabin in Montana, and in the spring will build another in Alaska. Love the videos!

If you don’t mind me asking, how do you afford this lifestyle? I’d love to get into it (I’m 17) but I don’t have any land or large savings to invest in land and supplies. Any input is appreciated
@Offgridtrucker2 жыл бұрын
@@carter2671 if the bank won’t lend you money to buy a piece of land sometimes you can find a seller who will do a land contract. Depending on the contract you pay it off in a certain number of years. Then live well below your means and work hard. I lived in a semi truck and trucked the country for a couple years to save up for a piece of land. Try to stay out of debt. I buy everything with cash. And then as far as building there are tons of books and KZbin videos to watch and learn how to build.

(Tom again.) Kyle, you ought to have a solar-powered front porch light on this cabin. I noticed how dark the front of it looked when you returned with SKEETER in this video. Really, seriously think about getting one. But only hook it up while you're actually staying there. There's no use in hooking it up while you all are away for any length of time. Take care.
@donaldhofman52572 жыл бұрын
I got a cheap solar rope lights from Harbor Freight that lasted nearly 2 years in my chicken coop- greenhouse! It wasn't to bright but it was enough to see pretty good! I built a covered deck front porch on my house and installed a solar powered motion detection flood light on it that lights up the whole front yard! It only cost us 40 bucks! It's never ran out of power yet and it's 2 years old now!!

(Tom again.) I hope Cierra is doing well now!! I'm glad you both are able to enjoy this new wild-life out in the "woods", as they say, together. Be careful out there. Stay warm. Stay safe. I hope you get to see that moose up close one day soon. That would be really neat if you were to look out your window and see that moose really close up. Maybe you'll get lucky and see it outside your picture window as it is looking in. (Kyle, my wife and l were living in the city [ of Richmond, Va. ] about 20 years ago and we looked out of our bathroom window and saw a deer walking beside our house. It was really neat. It shouldn't have been near our house because of all the traffic outside our front door. That's what was so neat about it.) Take care, sir!! See ya!!

Here on the Canadian border in NY state we leave a fire set in the wood stove with birch bark, fat wood, kindling, and leave a strike anywhere match sticking out of the match box next to the wood stove. That way if a stranded hiker, snowmobiler, or ourselves need a quick emergency fire fast it is all set up for the next person. Just a thought.

Hi Kyle. Great content! There are very good books by respectable authors who teach about foraging. If you can find a book that focuses on the plants indigenous to your area and read up this winter, you might find a lot of food naturally growing around you in spring and fall.
