I have the same kayak! You'll love it as soon as you get used to the weight of loading it up
@jigginwithjake27963 жыл бұрын
I have had it out a few times this past fall. I didn't think it was terrible to load and unload. But, I was using a cart as well.

I love my wilderness radar!! I went with the wilderness crate for storing drinks lures etc and it's a must have!!!
@jigginwithjake27963 жыл бұрын
That crate is crazy expensive! So is the pedal drive.
@chadsfishingadventures86003 жыл бұрын
@@jigginwithjake2796 yes very true I got my kayak already with pedal drive! Crate was nearly $300 Australian! Kayak was $3500 before the mods and sounder! Expensive but I must say it's a great product that I'm using atleast 4 times a week and regularly catching fish!!!
@jigginwithjake27963 жыл бұрын
Mine was 1,400 US. Without the pedal drive. Another 1,200 to add it. I agree it’s a great product. Just wish that pedal drive was about half the price.
@chadsfishingadventures86003 жыл бұрын
@@jigginwithjake2796 yeah it's an expensive piece!!!but in all honesty it's a great investment to have I love the freedom of pedals especially when the current and winds pickup a bit
@jigginwithjake27963 жыл бұрын
Oh I’ll eventually have one. Just gotta save up the scratch to make it happen, captain! Cause I agree! If you’ve watch the few kayak videos I’ve posted. Paddling is a pain!
@chadsfishingadventures86003 жыл бұрын
These are super stable kayaks I do alot of lure casting from standing up and very little movement!!
@jigginwithjake27963 жыл бұрын
I do agree! It’s crazy stable! As a rookie kayaker, I feel 100% safe on this one! I’d love to add the pedal drive. But, like I said in the previous comment, they’re pricey! Kayak and pedal drive combined and I could’ve bought a Hobie.....
@chadsfishingadventures86003 жыл бұрын
@@jigginwithjake2796 in my opinion the hobies are over priced and over rated imo! Yes they are good but basically a boat nearly 7k for kayak then add trailer and accessories its rediculous
@jigginwithjake27963 жыл бұрын
You ain’t kidding. Anything fishing related can get a little pricey. But, when you love it and you use it, it’s worth it,

You and me both, buddy! Had her out today and “played” a bit. This is gonna be fun! Couldn’t be happier with the Wilderness kayak! Fortunately, my wife encouraged it over an alternative option.
@fishingwiththearmydogg18494 жыл бұрын
@@jigginwithjake2796 well as you know I have used fishing as therapy for my PTSD, the kayak gave me more options to be on the water. If you get the pedal drive you find you have your hands free to tie hooks, take pictures and video, it just makes it a lot easier to get around. Enjoy it!!
@jigginwithjake27964 жыл бұрын
I definitely found that out today. Paddling back all I could say was... I need the peddle drive!

Well shoot. Thats like a teaser video for the first video of you catching some fish on it. I am curious as to what the plan is for fish retention. Get a basket and hang it off the side?
@jigginwithjake27964 жыл бұрын
Basket off the side is an option. I’m a,so considering using a pool noodle and a collapsible mesh laundry basket.

I have a radar 115 as well and I love it. The seat is one of the best in the game (for comfort), even after all these years I've had it out on the Potomac at Aquia Creek in 15mph wind with gust up to 30/35 (I got caught out there.. over a mile from the launch) I pedaled for 2 hours straight into a headwind and 3ft swells and not even once did I think I was going to end up in the water. I've taken it in the roughest conditions VA winter has to offer, including snow storms, and she has always kept me upright and fishing! Not sure if you have a fish finder by now but if you're going to mount a fish finder with side imaging on the flex pod, I recommend getting a 7" or larger screen. I went with a 5" hook2-5 TS and I regret not waiting until I could afford a much larger screen Have you been out on it yet??
@jigginwithjake27963 жыл бұрын
What’s up, Nick. Thanks for watching! I have been out several times this past fall. Looking forward to getting way more time in it this spring. I do have a fish finder but it’s pretty basic. I’ll be using the Garmin Striker 4 Plus.

I just purchased this kayak used, so it had a lot of gear already and I've been on the water once (it's late fall where I'm at) and I really enjoyed this video on the overview. I just added (yesterday) an anchor trolley. Where I live we have some very slow moving rivers, but they do have current that can pull me off a spot, especially when fly fishing. We also fish with my grandkids and sometimes need to anchor with them (on their kayaks), not quite self-sufficient yet with the bait and unhooking of fish. I'd suggest a cart, this kayak is quite heavy to drag.
@jigginwithjake27964 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video! Hope you consider subscribing. I’ve got several other videos out featuring this kayak and more will be coming in the future! It’s late fall here as well. Thought it was gonna be put up for the year. But, 75 degree temps had me out on it yesterday. May even be out again tomorrow!
