Steve's current recumbent trike is a 2021 HP Velotechnik Scorpion fs26 Enduro, outfitted with Schwalbe Marathon PLUS road tires instead of the stock knobby off-road tires. He has also owned a 2015 ICE Full Fat off-road trike, a 2014 Catrike 700 speed trike, and a 2007 ICE Qnt trike ... not to mention three bikes (Specialized Roll Elite - Motobecane Night Train fat tire - Easy Racers Gold Rush recumbent)

Great, glad to have been of help Daniel. Both bags are excellent quality and useful, but I now prefer the Lone Peak, even though I used the Arkel on my adventures for many years. BTW, I like your channel. steve

@@EZSteve I have a set of lone peak front panniers which I love. I'm thinking of switching out my current Topeka mtx setup with the ortlieb quick rack and a trunk bag. When I saw lone peak had one I figured it would be good! I have several bikes and I'm constantly moving bags/racks around.

@@AdventuresWithDaniel Yep, changing things out amongst rides is fun to do. I've had Ortlieb, Arkel, Radical Design, and Lone Peak bag setups, all of which have their distinct advantages and disadvantages. After 15 years of trying many different ideas, I am really hooked on the Lone Peaks for their simplicity, low weight, and low cost, along with the high quality and durability. steve

Sheer volume of yellow bag can be more variable, IE; food, clothing.

For daily usage or perhaps a overnight stealth camping trip. The Trail Rider fast pack 11L is sleek and adequate for this. However for a long tour, especially when much needed food supply is far and few between resupply stops. The Lone Peak 16L would be the better option being its taller rectangular design. Both mine are the gold color to stand out to be seen by automobiles 🛺.

I like the tailrider slanted design, but the lone peak is giving you more holding power, so I guess it comes down to what your uses are going to be for the bag. I’d say if you are doing a lot of long tours were you need like days worth of things, but if you are like me and just do like out and back rides like on the weekends or whenever you get a chance to ride I’d get the black one.

For out and back day rides, the Arkel Tailrider is perfect. When the center divider is removed (Velcro), you have a long area for longer items. steve

the Arkel tail rider was really nice, but too small to carry what i need on a over night ride. I would like to see the LonePeak in person. :). i am one of those people that need to see it and touch it to make up my mind. :)

Hi Rob, Yes, seeing and trying bags in person is the best way to go for sure! That is the reason why I have had so many panniers and bags over the years. I only know for sure once I buy the bag, have it sent to me, and actually put it on my trike. All the bags I have purchased work well, but some I like better than others, so I end up changing to what I like best. The small town where I live does not have a source for seeing all these bags in person, unfortunately. The Lone Peak solution that I now have (two Mt. Superior panniers and this Rack Pack trunk) all match, look great, and fulfill my needs very well, so I am finally at at the end of my buying streak that has gone on for more than 15 years, haha. The only panniers I have seen in person prior to buying are the Arkel GT-54 bags I bought used from a local rider back in 2009. You are lucky to be able to see these things in cycling stores in person! steve
