Bhutan: Archival documentary on the country during reign of His Majesty the King Jigme Singye Wangchuck
By the morning of 2nd June 1999, thousands of Bhutanese had gathered to the capital city to celebrate 25 years of coronation. The town spread along in the banks of Thimphu was the focal point of the nation tribute to a young king whose vision had in the 25 years given its people a accomplishment material prosperity within rich spiritual heritage.
It was a long week light atmosphere, Hundreds of Guests gathered from all over the world including the international media present. Bhutan and its people showcased its culture. The ceremony in the open air field in the heart of capital city on 2nd June included what is now taken on the National song. In the Agenda was also an addressed by his Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck. This was followed by Bhutanese folks and religious performances, then came the finale when King joins his subject in the community dance.
To many observers, this intimidate relationship to his subject defines the Light of His Majesty the King Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
Bhutan legend claimed that the birth of a pleasant king was prophesied in detail by Terton Drukda Dorji in 17th Century.
The saint has written that the male air would be born in the year of male wood Sheep to the Bhutanese ruler. On the 11th of November 1955, this prophesy came true. Bhutan has emerged as a single political entity with the Arrival of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1616. But the Wangchuck dynasty began with the coronation of King Ugyen Wangchuck as King of Bhutan in 1907. He was followed by King Jigme Wangchuck in 1926 and then by JIgme Dorji Wangchuck in 1952. JIgme Singye was the only son of the five children born to the late majesty Jigme Dorji and his Queen Azhi Choden. Jigme Singye took over as monarch in 1972 a His official coronation took place 2 years later.
